Any television shows you are looking forward to their fall season?
Old favorites? Any new shows sound promising?

I enjoyed "Heroes" and "The Riches" and look forward to their return. Of course, there's also "My Name Is Earl" and "The Office."

I'm not sure about any new shows.

2. Interestingly enough, I don't find myself missing any shows this summer
While they're on, yeah, I'm addicted to a bunch (including The Riches--tres good). But when they're off...meh. I find that fascinating--are there just none THAT good to hold my attention?

The one I do actually miss and find myself counting the minutes till it comes back is Battlestar Galactica--and for that one we have to wait till--SOB!--friggin' January. GAH!

I do love The Office, so I guess I'm jonesing for that. Maybe Lost, as long as they keep the plot moving like they did at the end of last season.

18. Ugly Betty had a mystery cliffhanger,
a major character was killed - but was it Betty's father in Mexico, or was it Betty's sister's boyfriend Santos, in a convenience store robbery? They didn't say - they just showed Betty and her sister crying about it, saying, "there was a gun... shots were fired..." but they didn't say who was shot, and they didn't even say for certain that the person died.

48. I thought the series pilot was a gem... then the show dropped in quality through
the Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas episodes.. it was still pretty good but those episodes seemed a little contrived and not as funny - but after the New Year the show got its mojo back and had some riveting moments all the way through to the season finale. Generally though I wouldn't call it a comedy series - it's more serious than funny.

Excepting of course Fay Sommers - and even Alex/Alexis "died" but was then revealed to be still alive.

42. Never thought I'd see the day
that I'd be seconding a vote for a crime drama on Fox -- but the thought of a weekly televised NOLA fix is just too tempting...

Any thoughts on why the city has never really been properly displayed on the idiot box? Its filmography is quite impressive, trailing only NYC, SF, L.A., etc. but when it comes to the small screen, I can only think of "Frank's Place": good, yes, but gone so quickly. Since then, bupkis. Could this be why the city doesn't register on most Americans' radar?

72. There is no
city in the country with the visuals as New Orleans. Hell, even the hurricane made for more visuals, which Fox obviously wants to take advantage of. I've got a strange feeling this show ain't gonna last long. There was one a few years ago with Larry Hagman as a lawyer. The scenery is just waiting for the camera crews. They do a great job at girls gone wild at Mardi Gras and I hear that Playgirl will be down for Southern Decadence next weekend to "shoot."

If one were to watch the news of late, New Orleans is still just a bundle of flotsam and jetsam. The Quarter is up and running at about 90+ percent. Just begging the tourists to come hither. And New Orleans will be hosting three College Bowl games this year. Despite the inaccurate picture the city is still breathing.

93. Hmmmm, found article, “A Kid Nation Under Siege”…
on-line in Defamer, admittedly a “gossip rag”, but very interesting.
What could be so bad for a kid to spend 40-days away from home. They
Can’t be completely alone because the whole filming crew is there. Perhaps
This is just to stir interest??

62. I'm looking forward to the slate of DVDs that comes out right before the new season starts
I haven't seen Heroes yet, but once the DVD comes out in a couple of weeks I'll probably give it a run-through.

And the second season of Prison Break will be out soon as well--I missed that last season as well.

Generally, I prefer watching those kinds of shows on DVD (so I don't have to wait seven days between episodes), but if I get really hooked on them I do sometimes try to follow them on a weekly basis (as happened with Lost after watching Seasons 1 and 2 on DVD ...).

in a show on Wed. @ 10 about a lawyer but I can't think of the name of it (I just love the guy that played Nate).

69. I want to say DaVinci's Inquest
It got canceled, and I don't know if I have seen all the episodes or if they just stopped at the end of the season and started re-runs, and there are more I haven't seen. Because if they don't take down Brian the evil vice cop before the show ends it will just kill me. He's murdered two of his informants and framed a third, or tried to. :(

74. It was cancelled but
there was a one-season run of Da Vinci's City Hall. There's also a Da Vinci TV movie in the works.

As for Brian, I can give you a vague answer if you want me to.

85. the last I watched it
he was framing Sue for the murder of that stripper girl's (who was dating one of the councilmen) boyfriend. He'd set fire to Angies house. He had a new partner who was pretending to be a bad cop so they could find out who murdered Mick's drug dealer friend. I watched the mayor stuff with da Vinci but it was pretty boring so I don't remember what the plot line was besides them trying to shut down the red light district. I just want to know if they resolve the situation with Brian of if it is left hanging. :hi:

86. Brian's character continues into the City Hall show.
I have seen all 91 episodes of Inquest and about half of the City Hall show. Brian gets his comeuppance, but not as much as you'd like to see him get. Basically, as the walls are closing in he loses all of his support, but I never got to see exactly how bad he got it.

87. Do you have it on DVD?
It is truly one of the greatest shows ever. I just don't like Da Vinci as mayor, I like him better as coroner. I did enjoy his sparring with the police chief, but the rest of it was boring to me. I wanted to see Brian tried and convicted for the murders of his two informants. I wanted to see Sue get on her feet and have a happy ending. I think if it had been widely viewed in America it might not have been canceled so soon, it is way better than any of the CSI's in my book.

88. Just the first season of Inquest.
I have most of the rest of the episodes on VHS, but am missing at least three (one that jumps to mind is the one about the Chinese ship in the harbor).

I agree with you completely about a.) Da Vinci as coroner instead of mayor, b.) the show being better than the CSIs. I liked Sue a lot, but I didn't have as strong of a desire to see Brian get nailed. I love a good bad character and he was as good as any I've seen, I would have been perfectly content to see him keep being evil for years.

Oh, and I am still in love with Angie. :)

90. yes, I love Venus Terzo and Ian Tracey both
I was really hoping they would get together, or Brian would get with Suki. She annoyed me at first but then she grew on me. I also loved Donnelly Rhodes and the way he and Rose started working together after not getting along was cool. It's such a shame that show was canceled. :(

91. I know, it sucks.
How rare is it that you get a cop show that doesn't explain everything and doesn't solve each case in an episode or two?

Did you ever see the first three episodes, the one with diner owner Charlie Josephs?

As for Angie, I didn't want her to get together with anyone but me ;)

92. I don't think I have seen the early episodes
I don't know...I watched it every night for about 2 months, after the new ones ended for the summer and they started showing reruns. It seemed to jump around a lot. It's so funny because I realize now that many of the secondary characters had a pit part on some of the old episodes; Sue, the police sargent, Brian's new partner, the wishy-washy councilwoman, all were on early episodes. I guess I watched about 40 or 50 episodes in reruns this summer. But I dont' think I saw the very first ones with the diner owner. I'd love to have it on DVD

98. The first season is available on DVD
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/105-8713941-5125268?initialSearch=1&url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Da+Vinci%27s+Inquest&Go.x=10&Go.y=10

Worth every penny, no matter which version you buy. The black cover is the U.S. release, the blue cover with more of a closeup is the Canadian version. The Canadian version is cheaper, but the packaging is awful and if you get it by mail order there's almost a guarantee that at least one disc will pop put and bounce around. If you buy a used copy, tell the owner to stuff the inside with napkins or newspaper and then tape the set shut.

The first three episodes alone (the Charlie Josephs episodes) make the set worth the price to anyone who likes the show. I absolutely guarantee it.

78. Prison Break and Medium
The second season of PB was so much better than the first, that I'm jonesin' for the third. And of course all the L&Os. Criminal Intent is supposed to be on USA this season which makes me wonder if it's going to be a short one. Most USA shows only have 10 or 12 episodes.

But when I get off working a late shift, which is about the only time I watch TV, I'm looking for fluff.

There used to be more, like Criminal Minds, but CBS let Mandy Patinkin leave. This will probably be it's last season. I mean, come on. How can Joe Montegna replace MANDY?! It will not work.
