with a European who could not get over the extent of the obesity epidemic in America. I finally had to tell him to lighten up already.

2. I know what you're talking about.

A couple from Munich stays with us periodically, right around the end of August/beginning of September. They insist on going to the local fair so they can take pictures of the sort of people they've never seen at home. The thing is, I've been to Munich. They're not insane, my friends.
