Time Machine: I just read on Yahoo that it may become a possibility
some day. Now, if you could get into a time machine and travel to YOUR past, what one event would you reverse? Forget for a moment that the entire rest of your life may have been altered by the original error. What would you change, all other things being equal?

I can think of a thousand such moments - it's hard to pick just one - however I think I'd turn my answer "Yes" to the question "Will you marry me?" to a "No." So much grief would have been avoided. You?

I'll have to go to bed soon but if anybody responds I'll be checking tomorrow after my exam. I'm curious if anybody else has huge regrets.

2. think of the children!!!
I might change my college degree enough to get an accounting major.

Or I'd keep my DOD job.

Or I'd keep my bookstore open instead of selling the building (as it turned out, my competition closed about a year later. Maybe my going out of business sale helped that by taking a big bite out of his profits.)

Or maybe I would be nicer to Lori, because at the ten year reunion she was smoking. Or there was Linda who looked great at the twenty year even after 4 kids.

Way too much to change with hindsight.

3. There are so many things I would like to change about my past...
...but if I did, I probably wouldn't be the person I am now, and I'm kinda digging myself at the moment. I've hurt people, and have done things that I'm profoundly ashamed of, but it all adds to the overall picture, and I'm very much at peace with what that picture looks like. I hope you don't spend a great deal of time pondering over such things because I shudder to think what you could be missing in the process. :hi:

4. Knowing me, I'd probably use it to tell myself a set of winning lottery numbers. :)
In all seriousness, there is at least one relationship I wouldn't have wasted so much time on. That, and a few different financial choices early on. But then again, screwing up has led to me learning from those mistakes... so odds are I'd just make them again if I didn't let myself make them the first time.

That was the beginning of the end.
