The man, Thomas Montgomery, 48, of Cheektowaga, averted a murder trial by pleading guilty to shooting Brian Barrett, 22, of Lockport, three times at close range in the parking lot of the Dynabrade Corporation in Clarence last September. Mr. Barrett’s body was found in his truck in the parking lot two days later. Both men were involved in an Internet relationship with a West Virginia woman using her daughter’s Web page to pose as an 18-year-old. Mr. Montgomery could be sentenced to 20 years in prison.
