I admit, the hotel tax is obscene. I don't know why it's so much higher than the sales tax (7% or 3.5% depending on the town).

Other than a brief "snack" tax on some foods of questionable nutritive value (it went away quickly) we don't have a food tax here.

Are the gas guys fast at least? The ones in Oregon (another full service state) take for...ev...er... and it drives me nuts.

78. From a former NJ citizen, now living in MD - by the Bay, missing NJ and seeing too much water
The NY Ren Faire rocks!! Have a wonderful time. I really miss it, even after 18 years of the MD Ren Faire. The MD Faire does have a larger shaded area however. The NY Ren Faire in Tuxedo is held on the sight of a former tourist trap that was basically a large garden. I don't recall the exact name, but it was something Gardens. I went there once shortly before it closed. You took a tram ride through the plantings and they had different gardens - a rose garden, an herb garden, that sort of thing. In the lower parking lot they had a large pool and 2 dolphins that did your basic dolphin show. I felt very sorry for them and was relieved when the place closed soon afterwards and they were transferred to a much larger aquarium to be with other dolphins.
