Wachovia is an interesting name for a bank...
Reading the name could make one think that this was a bank that would watch over ya; but when the name is spoken, one might be inclined to think the bank would walk over ya.

1. That name comes from the German settlers
who settled around now Winston-Salem. The hilly area reminded them of the Wachau valley where a lot of them emmigrated from. :-)

4. Except that it happens to be true
unlike Cliff. And I have the extra added cache of living here, when Wachovia was just my grandma's local little bank where she cashed her SS checks.

3. I prefer the previous bank to Wachovia
Before Wachovia it was First Union.

Now the Flyers/Sixers stadium in Philadelphia was originally named after Core States, who was bought about by First Union and then Wachovia.

So for a years, if you were going to a game or concert at the First Union Center you'd say that you were going to the FU center (think about it)

Now stuff is just at the Wach

6. I was disappointed to discover the true pronunciation of Wachovia.
They serviced my student loans back before they had a national presence and I thought "watch over ya" was a great name for a loan servicer. They did try to walk over me too but that's a different story.

11. I'm sorry to hear that...
I passed by a storefront not long ago with a sign in the window that said something like "Wachovia is a thieving business...Boycott them".

I have a feeling someone had a foreclosure...

14. Not a problem for me - they tried to walk over me and failed.
They tried to charge me a late payment fee on an NDSL loan when it wasn't warranted. I sent them the citations from the loan documents repeatedly until they finally caved. That was back before credit scores and it was easier to stand up to crazy charges without ruining your credit.
