Harry Potter and the Atlantic Ocean
Those of us who live on opposite sides of the Atlantic Ocean are separated by a common language - Churchill said something like that. Words that are innocuous on one side of the pond can cause embarrassment (or guffaws) on the other side. Here is an example from "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix", chapter twelve.

In the British version, George says, "Fred and I managed to keep our peckers up somehow".

The American version reads: "Fred and I managed to keep our spirits up somehow".

1. My dear Lionel Mandrake!
Yikes!

Suddenly, I am glad that there's an American version...

How can one language get to be so damn different?

7. I'm not familiar with Hepzibah Smith
Is she in HP & The Order of the Phoenix? Maybe I haven't read far enough yet.

10. Don't feel bad.
There's a lot of stuff going on in these books. You are bound to miss something once in a while.
