I'm concerned about buying Chinese made products.
After what happened with the pet food, I am starting to wonder what is next.

"Every day it seems we learn of new products that were made in China being recalled because they contain lead and/or other harmful substances. From the food we eat or feed our pets to personal hygiene products like toothpaste to the toys we give our children, "made in China" is becoming the new "skull and crossbones" warning label."

"Officials in New Zealand have launched an investigation after children’s garments imported from China were found to contain very high levels of formaldehyde, which were 900 times above the recommended safety limit."

Are these clothes being sold in the US also?
How can we be sure that what we buy is not made in China? I buy items that don't tell where they are being made.

1. Wasn't there something recently about metal shavings in aspartame?
Yeep.

Find labels. If there is no country of origin, don't buy it.

I don't understand what's wrong with regulation. Surely the cost of recalls and retroactively upgrading would cost more than some basic QC? You know, "a pinch of prevention vs a pound of cure" or something like that?

Of course, if Microsoft wants to abandon its QC department so all its end users become free beta testers, then that's what will be done. But given corporate desires for more riches, surely there's more to the tally than mere upfront costs.

No wonder workers won't exercise. The way things are going, it seems to be wasted effort to get fit just to swallow toxic death.
