4. They are used where long life and precision are required.
In a machine tool, for example.
The machining table is positioned and moved accurately by motorizes ball-screws,
one for x and one for y.

works better

depends on the screw though

a long screw might do better with crisco :evilgrin:

a short one might do better with nothing, soap, or wd 40

Screws are used for longer motions than gears.
