I haven't been to a rock concert since 1997 - but this year I'll see Waters, Police, and Rush

WOO HOO!!

The 1997 show was also Rush.

I've already seen the Roger Waters and Police concerts - both goddamned incredible.

I'll see Rush in a few months.

I was most excited about Waters - I'd never seen him, and I've been a Floyd fan since "Animals" and a fan of his solo work. It totally lived up to everything it should have been. The only downside was the group of 20-somethings behind me, the only 20-somethings for rows and rows, and the only people who would NOT fucking shut up during the entire show. They totally ruined "Set the Controls" for me.

The Police I wanted to see because I really do like their music, though I've also not been bothered by not listening to it the last 20 years. But I'm also a huge Sting fan, and other than hearing him play one day when I was walking by Rockefeller Center and he was performing on a morning show, I'd never seen him live, either. Really tight, really amazing show, though, and I am super duper glad that I went to it.

And now I get to see Rush again - this will be my third or fourth time to see them. I'm pretty sure it'll be the fourth. Fucking cool!

It's kind of like being a kid again.

The "Grace Under Pressure" tour. Saw them the first time in 1982 for "Signals", which was the better of the two shows, but both were solid.

I have seen the Gilmour-led Floyd, which was in 1994. GREAT show. Missed Waters when he played the Hollywood Bowl last year, so I ought to try the second time around.

I have never seen Sting or the Police, but back in 1987, my sister got to meet Sting after his show. She had her camera with her - a nice 35mm job - and one of the roadies stopped her after the show, asked if she had any film. The scheduled photographer hired to take post-concert publicity shots didn't show up, so they offered the gig to her for union scale.

Needless to say, she was excited. She got pictures of the two of them together, and hung them all over her apartment, lol. Said he was really nice and low-key.
