yep. He cut his hand w/ a circular saw last week and nearly severed two fingers. I guess there's enough circulation and sensation that the fingers can be saved. However, since he has no health insurance he's being bounced around from hospital to hospital.

I wonder what happens to his fingers if he's made to wait too long....

1. Did it happen anywhere that a homeowner's or business policy would cover it?
it's worth a shot. Fucking insane that they won't just give him the care he needs. :hugs:

3. Sweet spreadable christ on a cracker, that's f'd up
What we also need around here is mandatory health care. Insurance or not, if you go to an ER/hospital you have to be seen and treated, insurance or not. It it's a liability issue, make it law and let the state deal with the malpractice, subrogating with the MDs underwriter. When it comes to saving a person's life, health or ability to make a living, "am I going to get paid" shouldn't even be in the mix.

Sorry, rant over. I hope your nephew gets taken care of.

4. Healing vibes to your nephew, MissMillie.
I hope that he gets the treatment he is needed as soon as possible.

It makes me so upset that people cannot get the basic level of health care, let alone in an emergency.

6. might not be a bad idea
a real-life example of the guy from Sicko...media might like the parallel. Fucking shame that one would need to do that though.

7. also, Moore has some suggestions on his site....
the sad thing is that his fingers need immediate attention, so time is critical.
