anybody make their own lemon pepper?
I'm not having much luck with the google - just found one recipe

I was at the store and started reading the label and realized it would probably be cheaper to throw womething together in a jar myself than pay premium for bulk pepper (and some had added salt as well)

So what are the ingredients and proportions? I was also sort of surprised to realize they contained dry lemon zest and not lemon grass...I always thought that was what gave it the lemon-tang. Who knew?

5. I usually just squeeze some fresh lemon over what I'm preparing
then grind fresh pepper over that.

6. well i do too sometimes but also...
i might also put a little chopped lemon peel in the cooking butter or olive oil, before i put in the fish and squirt juice/grate black pepper over

it is a bit tricky to thinly peel off the yellow part of the lemon peel and chop it up, and still have the lemon in shape to be squeezed for juice, but it can be done if you swear enough

also if i have too much minced peel, i keep the rest in a small baggie in the freezer until it is needed again

this is not exactly the same as the commercial lemon pepper powder but it's good

12. yeah, for fish or chicken, but there something (the peel, I guess) missing
when you do beef. That lemon pepper and salt and garlic and onion powder make such a yummy crust on roast beef ... and gravy is just bland without it in the drippings.

8. I've just been thinking about doing that myself.
Sweetie has been on a real lemonade kick, so I've got
a lot of lemon peel and it's just going to waste right
now.

I thought I'd just start drying the lemon zest, and once
I have a jarfull I can trial-and-error it to get the
pepper proportion right.
