Enough with the fucking rain already.
Here in Chicago we got deluged last night.

We're supposed to get more of the same today and tonight. Or so I heard.

5. I would if I could.
I think we've had enough. Quite a bit of flooding around here.

6. Not to mention all the trees and tree branches down.
The drive home last night was through an obstacle course.

8. I haven't seen any of that in my neighborhood.
I thought I'd lose the power in my building last night, though. Scary.

9. Lots down on the northwest side and in Oak Park.
The boiler room in my building (sub-grade) had 6 feet of water last night because the asshole property manager hasn't acted upon multiple requests from the board president, residents and maintenance guy to get the damn sump pumps fixed. Now the boiler that produces hot water is out. The plumber was coming this morning, but if parts are required, we may be without hot water until Monday.

I may be reduced to going to my niece's or sister's to take baths this weekend.

11. Awful, wasn't it? Sorry to hear about your flooding. I imagine a good 80% of the
buildings in Chicago saw some flooding last night. By some miracle we're okay so far (*KNOCK ON WOOD*) because our unit is a duplex down.

13. And I am absolutely wiped out today....
No good reason, I went to bed early and slept like a log.

Great news that your place didn't flood, especially since you are getting ready to sell.

Yesterday was damn scary.

3. NW Indiana here...Lake County...
Edited on Fri Aug-24-07 09:11 AM by IndianaJones
it is unreal. I had the power out for 10 hours the other night and 5 inches of water in the basement. The farm fields around here look like lakes. A guy I work with has family in Glenwood (?) and he says their basement flooded for the first time in 50+ years.

7. It's either too much or too little it seems like. We're down 20 inches.
We are down 20 inches for the year. The official rainfall for the month of August is .005 inches. Temps have been over 100 degrees for two weeks straight and will hit 105 today.

10. That was a fucking hellish commute last night. It looked like the trees had some
kind of civil war and their dead and injured were strewn all over the road. At one point the rain was coming down so hard I couldn't see more than 2-3 feet in front of the car. But I was afraid to pull over because the trees were coming down left and right. Then some idiot pulled out in front of me with NO LIGHTS ON. If his car hadn't been white I don't know if I would've seen him. Came to a dead stop in the middle of the street too for no apparent reason. I thought a tree was down or something, but then I finally pulled around him and the way was clear. He just felt like stopping apparently. I swear the idiots wait for storms just to jump in their cars and make life even more hellish for everyone.

12. We got hit with golf ball sized hail last night
in Pueblo Colorado and I got the bruises to prove it. I think it broke one of my fingers too.

14. Send some of it this way please.
We haven't had much rain at all this summer. And it is hotter than the hinges of hell down here in MS. A little rain would be nice. The weather has been funky for everyone in the country it seems.

16. It's been feast or famine
We had one of the driest Julys on record in SE Michigan (June too) and now it seems that we're getting our entire summer's worth of rain in one week. We haven't been hit as hard as MN, WI, OH, or IN, thankfully, nor did we get Chicago's awful storm yesterday (we got a pretty serious storm but nothing like that). But we've been getting pretty heavy rain consistently since the beginning of the week with more to come today.

20. At least it got me the day off. Can't get to work in Des Plaines.
The commute home last night was hellish, too. But one poor liberal with anti-* stickers all over his bumper had it worse. He stalled out in a construction zone. Wish I could have stopped to help but it was too dangerous.
