A man has been jailed after holding up a bookmakers with his girlfriend's vibrator wrapped up in a plastic carrier bag. The man, who held up the betting venue in Leicester, UK, has been given five years.

The defendant with the vibrator, Nicki Jex, 27, of Braunstone, Leicester told the Crown Court how he had successfully held up the bookmakers in Narborough Road last Christmas with the vibrator hidden in a plastic bag.

The item of course, was the shape of a gun, and when a man runs into a shop wearing some sort of head gear and pointing something at you - you're hardly going to ask him exactly what he is carrying in the bag. The terrified manager of Ladbrokes, the bookmakers, quickly gave the robber over £600 in cash the day after Boxing Day last year. Jex has received five years for the robbery.

At Leicester Crown Court, Judge Philip Head told the defendant: "It's right to record that you did not have a firearm but you pretended you had and intended that those you confronted believed that you did, and it must have been truly terrifying for them at the time."
