1. Good morning.
Snow day here in the Kansas City area. I, of course, got up and started on my first cup of coffee before I found out so there's no point in going back to bed.

2. Yeah I normally drive from Lawrence to KC
But today I got out on I70 and, after seeing several cars on the side of the road and in ditches, and watching a few people spin out, I decided "fuck it".

So, here I am.

3. My husband works in Lawrence
and we live in Overland Park. He won't be heading in for another hour or so, by which time the roads will probably be in good shape.

I turned of my 16 year old's alarm when I learned he has no school, but so far Johnson County Community College seems still open, so the older one doesn't get a break.

4. Good morning!
From Oslo, Norway where an incredible 40 CENTIMETRES of snow has fallen during the night, forcing all traffic to a standstill. I arrived 30 minutes late for work today and was the third our of 20 employees to arrive!

Good morning!

7. Good morning! As of today: Sporting a tie!
I've finally learned, after nearly 28 years of living, how to put on a tie. It ain't easy coming from the Norwegian working class, you know!

Norway is mild, full of snow and beautiful women and last night, I learned that my football team (Lillestrøm SK) have splashed out on a classy, Slovenian midfielder. All we need at this stage is a striker, and we might start hoping for a run at the Championship for the first tim in 15 years! And you wonder why I'm a happy puppy?

GOOD MORNING WORLD!

10. Lol
check out my post from Tuesday, above.

It was really icy out, and I had a 45 mile drive to work. So I went out, but it was pretty dangerous driving (not so much the roads, but the idiots driving on them). So I came back home and called in. The way things were going, I was going to be late to work by about ten or fifteen minutes anyway, which results in being counted for half a day against you. So I called in, decided to take the full day.

Well, turns out my decision to call in, factored with times where I had been late by a couple of minutes (four times) due to traffic on the long drive (I normally get there 15 minutes early) and a couple of prior call-ins got me fired!

Oh well.

The drive sucked, the job sucked, and I think they were looking for an exucse to get rid of people.

The funny thing is, I don't know how anything in my area will get done. The only two other people who do that job every day usually only did about 1/5 of the total workload. So, it would be funny to see how backed up it gets.

25. Morning! It's Friday, and the eve of a fun weekend
I'm going to the Norwegian Championships in table hockey this weekend in the city of Horten, about 150 km south-west of Oslo. This is the definite national championship, and the location is simply exquisite: We'll be on a castle, on a small peninsula, far away from all and everyone. This should be fun! I finished 4th last year, but my hopes for this season is to win the team competition.

Wish me well and have a good morning and weekend!

I hope that you emerge as the champions!:-)

I have probably never told you this, but I used to shoot competitively. 22-long-rifles. Both of my teams were very good. I was the only girl on the one from my public school, but the one I shot for in the summer was only girls. Unfortunately, I had to give it up when I went to boarding school, but still participated in the summers. I was usually first or second "man," LOL! Believe it or not, I was once a card-carrying member of the NRA, though it was not Charleton Heston's NRA. Did you see "Bowling for Columbine?" Great movie.

Anyway, as I am sure that you are not surprised, this was only target shooting. I am pretty much a vegetarian and would never shoot anything living, part of my early training, and am now an advocate of gun control. I just wanted to share. Good luck to you! You have my positive thoughts...:D

Rhiannon :hi:

Edited for shooting emoticon. LOL!:D

38. Thank you, my friend. I still have my two dogs, but my cat
was the one who was in here with me at night. She was practically feral when I rescued her, as she had been abandoned and on her own. She had been through so much. I read up on the best way to domesticate her, so this was her room and I got her a little kitty house which was her safe place. She was black, so I keep thinking I see her out of the corner of my eye. I got her the best medical care I could, but I still feel like I let her down somehow. I wish I had taken her back to the vet's sooner (yes, that vet), but he said every two weeks. I knew better. I miss her a lot.;(

Finally, the weekend beckons yet again. Tonight, I'm meeting an old friend of mine for beer and taco. We get to do this only about once a year, being as he is both a father and the husband of an insanely jealous woman. Tonight, at last, we'll have a laugh. I'm looking forward to that as much as I am looking forward to watching some real, live football tomorrow. Yes, Lillestrøm (that still is my team) takes on the blue shit of Vålerenga in an indoor training match. This is the prime grudge match in Norwegian footy, and even though it's February, the match doesn't count for nothing except practise and the season doesn't start until the middle of April, a cool three thousand people are expected. I'll be there, and on Monday, I'll tell you all about it ;)

All is well here in Northern New York, but it has become incredibly cold. It's suypposed to get up near 40 degrees this week, though. A regular heat wave!

I can't imagine watching a movie with such a name. What was it about?

I am sitting here with my little dog sharing my chair. I still miss my cat so much. I am used to her being in here with me and, out of habit, I walk very softly when I come in here, so as not to startle her. She was pretty skittish after being on her own for a long time, poor little thing. She was also black, so not always easy to spot.

Have a great evening and an even better week!:hi:
