I need a new printer for my computer. I have an iMac G5 and I am
thinking of getting an "all in one" -- a printer that copies, scans, and prints.

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions? I am looking to keep the price under $250.00.

I would also like one that can print photos from a memory card.

Thanks!

1. Hey...sorry no advice for you

But if you recall, we were talking about the GnR recording session of Sympathy for the Devil and I told you I'd heard that story from another perspective.

In fact, it was Katie Park who was at that session w/ Clink. She married a guy I knew--Terry Wilson--who had moved out to LA and was in that band The Rave Ups. Small wold, huh? IYR, Katie called guy I played in band with--and who used to play w/ Wilson--for lyrics confirmation and we heard the break-up story in the next day or two.

I don't get on to DU too much lately and was hoping to cross paths.

Take care....

:hi:

2. I have a Canon Pixma 780 (Canons are great! And their ink is less pricey)
It's wonderful, it cost 220 two years ago - they may not have that particular model anymore - but the Pixma 830 looks the same and is 209 and less online.

I also have a cheap, but decent HP printer that I got at Target for 60 - I broke the Epson we had at our small office. :hide: BTW, Epson's are HORRIBLE!

4. We have an Epson -- it is a piece of shit.
My wife keeps saying, "All it needs is a new ink cartridge!" So, I replace the cartridge, it works for about a week, and then the pages we print look like shit. I have had it with that thing...time for a new one.

I have read a lot of good reviews for Canon printers -- I think I am going to look at those, first.

Thanks for the suggestion!!

6. Canon blows Epson away
I think there was some lawsuit about Epson ink cartridges - some kind of scam making em run out too soon.

Pieces of crap, if you ask me.

The Canon is great! You are welcome.

5. I have an HP Photosmart all in one.
It does all those things, plus it can print from a memory card. I am pretty happy with it. I've put it through its paces with quite a high volume of printing, but have not done a lot of photo printing, so I can't speak to the quality there. I do wish I had done an ink price comparison, though. The price of ink is HELLA expensive. Definitely take that into account.

7. I just bought an HP Photosmart C4240 All-in-One, good..
buy at $96.00 total. Prints documents and photos, has 4 memory card ports, prints from the card or download to computer, and only needs 2 ink cartridges - 1 black and 1 color, only about $17.00 each. Using photo paper, the pictures are great. The whole unit is very compact.

8. Take a look at the MacWorld website.
It's a good resource for Mac-friendly hardware reviews:

<http://www.macworld.com/topics/hardware/printers/>

It looks like the Kodak EasyShare 5300 is a decent choice, for just under $200.
