What is the worst officiating you have ever seen...
... in a NON-professional and NON-collegiate sports competition. I'll go first.

1. My sophmore year of high school, my high school football team lost the district title game 21-17. I could write pages and pages about the bad calls that were made... but I will say this: If player is tackled, and he is already lying on the ground, if he lets of the ball at that point, its NOT a fumble... right? ... If you don't believe that the referee ruled it a fumble, I'll try and get you a game tape...

2. When I was a kid, I went to go see the my local high school football team play out of town. Late in the game, with about 3 minutes left, we were winning 7-0, the other team was moving the ball down the field, the person in the booth kept stopping the clock... on EVERY SINGLE PLAY! (You're only supposed to stop the clock on an incomplete pass or when someone goes out of bounds, etc, etc.) They scored and went for the 2 point conversion, but our guy intercepted the ball and ran it back in the other direction... he would have scored 2 points (since it was a return during a conversion) but the referee blew the whistle as soon as the ball was intercepted, which you are not supposed to do according to Texas High School Football rules...

3. Little League Baseball- Okay, I don't want to open up a big can of worms here... I could probably right a novel about bad calls in Little League Baseball... but I will say this... I actually walked up to one of our umpires after the game and told her to go back to umpire school. (and I am a very mild mannered person...)

Any of you guys have a story?

Peace,

2. Oh sh*t... sorry, that doesn't count... but, come to think of it...

4. offical
Let me start by saying that I am an offical (track), certified for high school, college, national and international competition. (didn't know there was such a thing for track, eh?) At lower levels not only are the athletes learning, but so are the officials. Most of the people are doing this because they enjoy working with kids. They are not in it for the money or to screw one of the teams.

I played basketball through high school and college and then coached at the high school level. I was sure every ref was out to get me or my team. Every call was bad and it was never called both ways. It was awful and any one could see that it was.....When my kids were born I got out of coaching. I got a job rating officials for a mid-level division 1 college conferece. My eyes were opened. Most of the men and women doing the work were fair in their calls. The bad refs were bad in both directions and the good ones were good in both directions. The bad ref did not stay with the conferece very long.

So in answer to your question, I have fogotten the bad calls, it does no good. Little League...balls and strikes are never called very well..but most of the people calling are high school kids anyway...

So relax and have fun watching.

... this was just for fun... in all fairness, when I was in Little League, I can clearly remember some very bad calls going OUR way...
