People who hate certain bugs: Which ones?
I generally don't mind the insect world, as a former and future gardener, I've made my peace with most of them. But I *hate* 3 kinds of insects....More like, they make me jump about 5 feet in the air if they come near me...

Moths
Beetles
Large spiders other than a Daddy Longlegs.

You? :hi:

1. Spiders
They freak me out. A lot. And sometimes those huge brown crickets, but only because they tend to resemble spiders if you don't look closely enough. :P

kitchen at 5AM and came across one that looked like something out of a 50's monster movie. Also crickets, because they jump unpredictably. One time there was a brush fire near my Southern Calif. home and dozens of crickets made their way into my house, gaining access through the small drain holes in the windows. It was creepy.

30. exactly! Give spiders a break, people. Overcome the fear.
A big ole' spider (body probably size of a quarter, with looong legs) was building a web across our sliding glass door and I walked right through it (thank god the spider didn't land on me or I'd have freaked).

I put said spidey into a tupperware dish and took him/her outside to re-weave his web elsewhere.

I'll remove them from the house; I refuse to kill spiders unless they happen to be a black widow or a brown recluse (if I knew what a brown recluse really looked like). Spiders do fantastic work keeping down the population of undesirables like mosquitoes. This world would be overrun with bugs were it not for their natural predators.

I know spiders are creepy, but really, people - they are very, very beneficial, and most of the time weave truly beautiful webs. Give 'em a break, please. Please?

HATE roaches. The way they scuttle around is disgusting. They get offed if I see one, but I rarely do, thankfully.

HATE ticks. Have a serious tick-o-phobia. Immediate tick death for any that cross my path.

Don't much like centipedes or milipedes, either.

35. Roaches.
I'm fine with just about everything else. (except that weird unidentified spiny thing that landed on my NECK a few weeks ago... that was creepy and weird.) I can handle spiders, even big ones. I can handle snakes and other things most people consider to be creepy, gross and/or scary. But roaches just creep me the hell out. I don't know why.

I've taken a saying from Yoda to heart on the matter. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.

So I turn my fear into anger, anger into hate, and when I find roaches, I make them SUFFER. Mwahahahahaha!

I kill venomous ones I come across, which are mostly black widows and brown recluses.

I truly hate mosquitoes because they kill millions of people every year.

ETA: I hate wasps which are mostly yellow jackets around here. That's why I have so many swallow nests on my property.

I'm also not real fond of ticks. Disgusting creatures.

On the other hand, my all time favorite insect is:

47. But much tastier. :)
In that case, you'd probably consider my only pet at the moment to be a bug too...

I work the night shift, and after work, about 3 or 4 am I stopped at the store to get some groceries. The parking lot was pretty dark, but as I was walking towards the store I noticed something a few inches long on the ground. I looked a little closer and thought... "Is that a huge insect? No... too many legs." So I looked even closer, and I noticed that the front two limbs were claws, and I thought, "Is that a scorpion? No way... biggest scorpion I've ever seen in this state was less than a centimeter long." So I looked closer, and nudged it with my foot to see if it was alive.

It reared up when I nudged it... and I realized that either it was a baby lobster (unlikely... no salt water around for fifty miles) or a large crawfish. Either way, it was almost dried out, and they can't breathe if their gills aren't at least damp. So I did my shopping ASAP, and bought a cheap tupperware container to catch it in. I couldn't think of any good water nearby to dump it in (who knows where it crawled from), so I took it home and named her Roadkill. :)
