Things have a weird way of working out sometimes
For the back story to this thread see this link:

Long story short: I'm a trucker. There was a guy at work who thought he was about to take a route because another guy gave it up and took a floater position which is what the first guy does. I had more seniority than him, but I had been telling people that I was happy working in the truck yard moving trailers around. Well, I changed my mind and took the route instead. It pays $250 more a week than I am currently making which is big money to me. The guy who also wanted the route was very upset and told me so. He thought he was going to get stuck with my yard position and he wouldn't do that because he would only see his kids on the weekends.

Flash forward to Friday. Another guy who was running a different route and had more seniority than both me and the guy who was upset with me suddenly turned up missing in action on Wednesday. At our employer 3 no-call-no-shows = fired. So the guy is history unless our employer makes an exception which I doubt because I know what is going on with the guy who missing in action- and I'm the only one who knows that. It's been a closely guarded secret since January. I have no idea why the guy told me what was happening. I was new to the job and nobody really knew me then. He just opened up in a case of "truck driver confessional."

Anyway, what all that means is that the guy who originally gave up the run will get the fired guy's route. I will get that guy's route. And the guy who was upset with me will be able to retain his 3rd shift floater position which was working really well for him.

The timing makes me want to believe in supernatural forces.

1. Nice.
Always good to see things work out, whatever the reasons may be.

Except for the guy who is MIA and I'm not sure if he doesn't deserve his fate. All everyone at work knows is that he is in jail in a different state. They called the guy's house to see what was up with him and his son answered the phone and told them his father was in jail. I'm the only one there who knows why, but I ain't saying shit until I know for sure the guy isn't coming back. I've been holding on to that secret for 9 months.

4. That is too bad, indeed...
I hope things work out for him too...

Good for you, holding onto the secret for so long.

A lot of folks couldn't do that.

Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier. I kicked this thread right before I went to bed.

I start the new run tonight. It's 3rd shift and I go in at about 11pm.
