I think you've seen me post about the beagle, whose given name is "Grace". Well, yesterday, I put her out in our fenced yard while I prepared her breakfast, as I always do. When I went to get her, she was GONE!!! I went into full panic mode! I knew there were a couple of places where, with some effort, she could slip under the fence, but she'd never shown any interest in doing so...until now!
I looked around my yard and the neighbors'. Then I began just walking through the neighborhood calling and calling...."Grace! Grace!". Went to the park, the Farmers Market, asked everyone if they had seen her. I finally gave up and headed home, upset and exhausted. Only to find her sitting on the front porch--not in the backyard, where I had put her--waiting for me to open the door. Nice ending, right?
Well, you'd think so, but here's where it gets weird...I walked back to the park and the Farmers Market to tell people I'd found her. Then I head home. Walking down the street, I notice a man talking to two cops in a parked police car. Nothing to do with me, so I keep walking. In a few seconds, one of the cops comes up to me. "Ma'am", he says, "Everything alright?". Me:"Oh yeah. My dog had run away, but she's come home. So, things are good." Him: "We had a report you'd been attacked." Me: "What?" Him: "This man says you were walking around calling for help." Me: I was calling my dog. The civilian man with the cops: You were yelling "raper".
At this moment I am six steps past perplexed. Me: "I was yelling"...and then it occurs to me. "My dog's name is 'Grace'". Everyone kind of chuckles, the guy apologizes, but this was wierd, too...the cops still took down my name, address and phone number. Unless they got the name of the other guy earlier, they didn't take him. I wonder why they needed that.
I guess it's nice to know people are looking out for one another, but it would have been helpful if the guy had talked to me, maybe even offered help, before calling the cops.
Hard to say who was more embarrassed, me or him.
Other than that, a nice weeked...World Communion Sunday....Blessing of the Animals this afternoon...nice
Except for the weird part.
You?
