God hates me.
Saturday we got the 10 day notice to "...resolve the number of excess animals at our residence or face criminal charges..." read that as bring down all of your cats and two of your dogs (all raised from puppies and kittens) to the "Shelter" and we'll "off" them for you.

Removing the hideous plastic from the walls of the upstairs bathroom (we have to sell or rent our house and move out of town) caused 6 square feet of 100 year old cement to fall away from the wall right down to the lath. So much for the "easy" fix, and one of the showers is out of commission.

5 minutes ago, "Bornagain Boy" in the next office strolled in. Asked me how I was, I said "OK. And you?" "BLESSED AND FAVORED!" his enthusiastic response.

I need to find religion, because God hates me.

2. I am sorry that this happened to you.
Could you possibly give some of the pets to family and friends so that you could still visit them ?

And can't you fight this ? Do you think that someone possibly tipped them off ?

Local nasty old busybody bitch and her equally nasty daughter live next door.

We desperately trying to move and make fostering arrangements in a pinch, but how do you explain that to a dog that trusts you?

I just feel sick.

just feeling like shit. the dogs won't understand, and there's no way to make them understand.

4 cats? anyone we know would have to be farm/barn type, and these have been indoor cats there whole lives.

people in general just really suck, you know?

The push petition to request City Council amend the statute started yesterday. I have about 50 signatures already.

12. That's step one this morning.
As to siggies, I figure about 200-400 will do unless council decides that they want this on a ballot, then we're in for more like 1000.

Somehow, I just don't think Jesus would reply to a run-of-the-mill courtesy question with "BLESSED AND FAVORED!" Jesus strikes me as more of a "Same ol', same ol'" sorta guy. :hi:

have you tried talking to someone at local newspaper?

sort of play dumb? Gee, I'm wondering if you could help me locate a foster group for animals - someplace I can foster them temporarily? Explain about the busybody down the road, your petition and the notice...

nothing tugs at the heartstrings like a dog/cat/puppy/kitten story...might drum up more than enough sigs if the council decides to make it a ballot question

PS on Edit: I don't hate you, I wuv you...

But we hate like hell to do it.

These dogs TRUST us. It will traumatize them beyond belief to have them separated and without us. We are the "Pack Leaders," and this would be very cruel in my book.

A last ditch effort.

19. Aw, shit, TD....that stinks...
 :pals: I am really sorry. :( Another suggestion would be to call the local TV station "action line" to bring attention to the plight. Your animals are obviously well-cared-for and loved, and removing those animals would definitely be a step in the wrong direction. If you can get an especially sappy reporter to do the story, it'll pull on the right heartstrings. :)

I hope things work out.

With Flint falling apart, and Lansing ripping itself to pieces I don't know how much they'd be interested.

 :) I sicced the local TV "action line" reporter on the local telephone company a couple of years ago after I was getting NOWHERE on my own with a huge problem that was solely of the phone company's making. It worked, which is why I suggested it to you. :) But the paper should do the trick!

:hi: You're welcome! :*

23. Excess number of animals?
What? Is that a local ordinance because as long as there is no mistreatment involved and they are not a nuisance I don't see how the city can make you give up pets. Sorry to hear about the run-in with the taliborniagain. I can't stand those as well. I know what you mean though about house repairs. Mine aren't as big but needed. Right now, I am trying to keep my truck running. I've spent close to $1,000 in the last month on it.

5 dogs and 4 cats doesn't seem excessive. What is the woman complaining about? Is there a smell? A mess? Do they poop on other people's lawns? Do they bark all night? What's the deal?

31. It's not the PETS, it's just an excuse to piss on us.
She envisions herself as the "Queen of Adams Street," and we just haven't kissed her aged sagging ass sufficiently.

She tried to sue us for not surrendering a 2' easement with sufficient speed, and now that we have had to fence the area, she's pissed off again, so she's trying to get at us through our animals.

Mean, nasty old bitch with nothing to do but be the local ratfink.

34. I'm sure she is, but what law/ordinance have you broken?
What are they charging you with? Surely it's not illegal to have pets in you home? Is there a local law/ordinance that specifies the number of pets you are allowed to have?

I'm sure the woman is a b---, but your town is charging you with an actual infraction, and that's what I'm trying to clarify.

That's the letter I got from the Zoning Board. If I don't comply they call Shiawassee County Animal Control, and they come out with a warrant and cages.
