Thats right I work for McDonalds, and I had to pull out and clean both the fry vat, and the nugget and fish vat last night. I really wanted to pull out my cell phone and take a few pictures but I didn't. Some day I will and send them to PETA.

5. Only a few minutes
I've had to clean that area before, plus I had to work for another 5 hours after cleaning it. Not to mention I am a Veggitarian so it doesn't bother me.

7. My latex gloves were clovered in green slime before I even started cleaning the sides of the walls.
Some fries, chicken nuggets, cup lids under the nugget vat covered in solid grease. But keep in mind it was only a month since the last time it was cleaned out like that.

17. Nope...I actually liked the things with the sweet and sour sauce they gave you
with it....but this was way before the time where fast food was considered evil, but at least I enjoy it in moderation- that is the key

way that most Americans eat these days

10. Sorry no discount
and they would fire me if I tried to give you one. Those apple pies taste so much better when you cook them in the fry vat. So much of the food tastes better when you can make it yourself in the back.

Im smelling a 'spiracy to keep me away from cherry pies...

Pumpkin? Is it filled with the same kind of gooey gelatinous stuff that the apple pies are filled with? cause that could seem a little weird if its pumpkin flavored.. then again, maybe not...:)

15. I love the pies too!
mmm :9

They are frozen in a box. I saw an employee walking from the back with a box of them right before he slipped and dropped them all over the floor. It was an emotional moment seeing all those delicious pies go in the trash

8. Were you high?
I worked for Jack-In-TheBox in the late '70s. I was on graveyard shift, which meant cleaning out the fryers.

I figured for the minimum wage they paid me to deal with drunks at 2AM, I could justify not being of whole mind.

I didn't actually find that part of the job particularly disgusting, just having to carry hot grease at 2AM by yourself was a little dangerous.

That and the drunks you got at 2:15 AM (right when the bars closed) were a pain. They all wanted something deep fried.....

if I get a job at my local McD's, do I have to wait on customers or can I work behind the scenes?

PS: They're hiring for "after school & weekends", but I'd like to work the early morning shift! ;)

You have nothing to be ashamed about for working there at all! It's honest money and hard work!!

I've worked at similar places over the years and also at 7-11's and other convenience stores.

It paid the bills and put food in my kids mouths. Not ashamed about that at all!

20. Acutlaly the pay is not too bad
but I work for a McD;s that is actually owned by the McDonalds Coorporation, over 80% of McD's are owned by other companies. Working directly for McD's is pretty nice, better benifitts, regular pay raises, better promotion opportunites.

I'm really not concerned about the benefits, as this would be a short term deal for me.

I just don't want to deal with customers directly.

24. Go to Subway and work there...
I had a great time working at my local Subway, until one day I wanted to kill a customer.

Well, I don't know if I actually wanted to kill her. I think I really wanted to begin screaming at her while waving one of those wicked sharp knives in the air.

I mean, really, if your son is so incredibly allergic to cheese, why the FUCK are you buying him a sandwich at SUBWAY? You know, the place with CHEESE CRUMBS all over the place? During lunch rush? And it was a a hot chicken sub, which requires 90 seconds in the microwave.

So I had to stand there, waiting for the chicken to finish heating up so I could make her son's sub BEFORE I could do anything else. During the lunch rush. Couldn't start on the other two subs she was buying. Couldn't work on the line that was behind her and reaching out the door...

Argh!

Then I moved to Radio Shack. Oops.

Then I moved to a small start-up robotics factory. Yay!!!!

And I haven't helped a customer since...

26. I'm with ya, customer service jobs SUCK the big one.
I answer phones at the family business and every time I get a telemarketing and/or auto dialer call, it sends me into a violent rage. The clients are friendly most of the time, but every once in a while you get one who drives you crazy.

28. I'd love to have a job like that.
We have a few fundies at my work, so I cant swear, and the machinery costs way more than I'm worth, and it breaks down constantly, so I have to take my frustrations out elsewhere.

29. He he he, fuck the fundies
And my boss may be a conservative and a Catholic, but he's also 35 years US Army, enlisted and officer. So cursing around him is almost mandatory!

And when the machinery is cast iron and weighs a few thousands of pounds, you can kick it all you want!

You in Minnesota? Want a job? :-)
