5. oh hell yay
If I don't get it, I 100% guaranteed get the flu, and get it BAAAAAAADDD, like hospital bad. With the flu shot, I either don't get it at all or get a much milder case (no hospital).

They're cultured on eggs, so they're not vegan.

9. Question for LeftyMom
If you needed a valve transplant, and only a pig valve was available or would be right for you, would you do it?
A ask this as a vegetarian (not a vegan) with a valve problem (which probably won't get worse), but I've pondered this question for myself

12. The Official Vegan Answer* is that if it's unaviodable, and there are no alternatives you do it.
Edited on Mon Oct-15-07 12:23 PM by LeftyMom
For example, some consumer products, such as tires, are unavailable in vegan versions, and all prescription medications sold in the US are products of animal testing.

The only perfect vegan is a dead vegan, and a dead vegan isn't going to change shit, ya know?

My answer? I don't know, I'm not in that situation. If there were a less effective but still workable mechanical alternative that would work in my case I'd likely go with that instead (though I know mechanical valves require more frequent replacement,) but I can't really say without being there.

*At least according to the Vegan Society. Ask ten vegans and you'll get at least ten answers, probably closer to twenty- we're an opinionated bunch of people, for sure.

13. Definitely yes.
I've gotten one for about a decade, before I was in any risk group and before my physicians started recommending it.

But I can't say what's right for you. It's best to consult with a nurse or doctor.
