What's to eat for the Super Bowl ?
Edited on Sat Jan-31-04 06:49 PM by bearfan454
Over here us Austin DUers are having:

fried turkey
smoked whole pork loin
50-50 spicy deer sausage
50-50 jalapeno deer sausage
deer cubes butterfly'd open w/ jalapeno in the middle wrapped in bacon cooked over charcoal
deer hard salami
hot wings
cheese cubes
yankee baked beans
macaroni salad
jalapeno deviled eggs
avacado dip
chips and homemade hot sauce
black olives and pimento stuffed olives
pickled mild jalapenos.
Claussen Kosher dill pickles
Velma's brownies - some with nuts some without nuts
Baby Ruth, 100,000, butterfinger, almond joy, nestle's crunch candy

I better not eat any breakfast. I have a Dr. appt 2 days later for my annual physical. Do you think my cholesterol will be high ? I do.

3. Over 20 people
50-50 deer sausage is made from half deer meat and half pork. Deer meat has absolutely no fat or cholesterol so if they didn't add pork it would be too dry and the casings would split.

9. spitfire shrimp
Stolen from the delectable Rachel Ray:

Quick tip: When "chopping" chives, don't. Use kitchen shears. Snip snip snip, works much better. Also do the same thing if you ever have to chop scallions, the scissors don't bruise as much. I also found that my largest nonstick skillet wasn't big enough, so I split the recipe in half and did it in two shifts. It's so fast, it really doesn't matter. And that way, half the shrimp is spicier, as it's been soaking longer. Yum.

Seasoning:
1 lime, juiced
2 ounces (1/4 cup) hot cayenne pepper sauce
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon crab boil seasoning
Shrimp:
4 cloves garlic, crushed and chopped
2 shallots, chopped
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons butter, cut into pieces
2 pounds jumbo shrimp peeled and de-veined*
12 to 15 blades fresh chives, chopped, for garnish
*Ask for easy-peel raw deveined shrimp at seafood counter of market

Preheat large nonstick skillet over medium high heat.
Combine lime juice, hot sauce, cumin, red pepper flakes and seafood seasoning blend.
Quickly saute garlic and shallots in oil and butter for 1 minute, add shrimp and cook 3 minutes, tossing and turning frequently. Dump pink, firm, cooked shrimp from hot pan into hot seasoning blend and toss in seasoning mixture to coat shrimp evenly. Garnish with chopped chives. Serve warm or chilled.

13. What really rocks is
how blasted easy it is to fix. Literally ten minutes in the kitchen, if you've got all the stuff right at hand. So you can make up a batch for a quick snack, then realise you've got way more than you can eat, and save some for later. Mmmmmmm........

26. Humm
I don't know about choc shakes and fries. I'll have to explore that. But it must be something about the taste of shake against the brown fries. :9

I've always said if someone could invent a good-tasting salty choc fudge they could market it to PMS-ing women and make a bazillion dollars. :D

OK, seriously hungry now. Grr! I'll go get a glass of wine instead.
