Damn, I forgot to post about this earlier.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford--

This is a novel by Ron Hansen that I read years ago. It was still on my book shelves when my son visited from Alaska over a year ago. He told me that a film was coming out based on the book, and I was pleasantly surprised. Hansen was a teacher of mine at a well-known writers' conference back in the 90s.

I thought the film was to arrive last year, but films often get delayed or even canceled.

I hope the film lives up to the spirit of the novel, which essentially deals with the culture of celebrity in the US. If anything, it's more relevant now than during the time in which the book was published.

Go see it! Enjoy!

I think that will make some money. Looks interesting.

And the director picked up on the gist of the novel, which is about the American propensity to make rogues, sometimes, into celebrities.
