Tonight's meal: Beef vegetable soup and homemade biscuits.
The soup is simmering now with a variety of seasonings, chunks of Yukon Gold potatoes, zucchini, carrots, and peas. I also took the last of the leftover Shepherd's Pie and dumped it into the soup pot. The meat, gravy, and vegetables will add flavor, and the mashed potatoes will dissolve and thicken the soup.

I baked biscuits this morning for a biscuits, sausage and gravy breakfast; there are several left that will go nicely with the soup.

I'm drinking a Pyramid Snow Cap right now.

It's chilly out, but the sky is a brilliant blue.

You?

7. I should
but didn't have any. Harry & David sells the mix. But it's basically dried beans, fajita seasonings, peppers, onions and ground beef.

:)

Though I do have something to add - if you cut yourself, you not only have to put a bandaid on it, but a little finger condom. Not that I know from firsthand experience or anything. :eyes:

36. It was a UU conference
and we cooked in one of the culinary arts kitchens in the best college here that teaches it. It was sooooooo cool. :D

Hmmm...if I can remember it all...we had apricot and brie empanadas, kebabs, and smoked salmon and bruschetta (not together!) on crostini for appetizers; main entrees were grilled salmon in blueberry sauce, curried veggies, rice pilaf, chicken breast stuffed with all sorts of goodies (feta, spinach, sun dried tomatoes...a couple of other things I can't remember) in a peppercorn sauce, maple glazed roast veggies...

It was an enjoyable and enlightening experience. I was definitely not made to be a chef, though. ;)

Edited on Sun Oct-21-07 09:57 PM by TK421
:pals: My mom used to make vegetable soup. She used lima beans, crushed tomatoes, turnips, green beans, carrots, and potatoes.

edited to add: she tossed in a rib-eye to stew along with the rest of the soup ( and my siblings and I used to fight over who got the pieces of meat..just so we could dip it in the Guldens Mustard ) :9

chopped onions and a little grated cheese, el pato. that's it. (I'm tired because I had to ride on the neighbors' because OMG there were cattle on their property! Not mine and not through my fence (yay! - they usually are) I should open a bottle of something to celebrate that!

38. Here ya go
http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/231667

I had a boatload of fresh pears on my hand and needed some new recipes. This one came together at the very end. I mean it didn't taste really good until the syrup thickened, so have faith.

Now I need a recipe for the rest of the pears....

31. Ours was kinda spread out from 4:00 to 9:30 tonight...
We spent a lazy afternoon catching up on our TV-watching,
while I made food one plateful at a time.

I fried some green tomatos in jabañero butter...
then some paneer...
then some porotta bread...
and finally finished off the last of our cheddar-jalapeño bread
by making some grilled cheese sandwiches.

Sweetie is off to bed; I stuck a small chicken in the oven
for my Midnight Snack.
