Just found some news on the fire in Kitchenwitch's area:
This is what I've found so far, this morning, about the OC fire(s):

http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-earlyfire23oct23,0,2900918.story?coll=la-home-center

In Orange County, a late-developing fire that broke out in the area of Silverado Canyon and Santiago Canyon roads quickly swelled Sunday evening and moved toward the Portola Springs and Northwood communities. At 11 p.m., fire officials said they were asking residents to evacuate two of the most endangered neighborhoods.

Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Stephen Miller said winds were blowing between 35 and 45 mph and firefighters were making a stand between homes and the blaze. "The biggest problem besides the winds is the tremendous amount of people congesting the highways to watch," he said.

3. I haven't heard from her, yet. Here's some stats from
the OC Register. It's an uber Repub paper, but it does report weather and fire conditions accurately.

http://www.ocregister.com/news/toll-road-county-1901269-orange-canyon

Where: Originated at Santiago Canyon and Silverado Canyon. Burned through Hicks Canyon toward Jeffery and Portola, now wind-driven in a south-westerly direction.
Road closures: Portola is closed between Jamboree and the 241 toll road; Jamboree between Chapman and Portola, northbound Irvine Boulevard all intersections; and 241 at Portola.
Acres burned: 4,000
Containment: 5 percent
Full containment expected: unknown
Full control: unknown.
Firefighters on scene: 400-plus
Aircraft: unknown
Cost to fight fire: Unknown.
Injuries: none
Structures burned: None.
Homes evacuated: Evacuations lifted in Cowan Heights and Peter Canyon areas. No mandatory evacuations at this time. Residents of Orchard Hills and Portola Springs areas and the street of Amberhill in Irvine; Tustin north of Tustin Ranch Road and Pioneer; and the Lemon Heights may voluntarily evacuate to Lakeview Senior Center or El Modena High School. Horses can be evacuated to the Orange County Fair Grounds. Other residents are asked to stay at home with windows and doors closed.
Cause: Unknown.

It is very warm by the coast, right now.
Still, we have to shut our windows because of the smoke and soot
that is blowing in.

I just came from outside where I see the winds are shifting more towards the south.
One third of the sky is orange/brown smoke that is headed SW.

4. I am as well as can be expected
it was a rough night. I dozed in and out, kept looking out the window and was listening to the radio station set up for emergencies here.

Both my daughter and I are having some asthma stuff because of the smoke.

Just found out that it is arson. I am so pissed about that. I start to question humanity when I hear about stuff like this.

6. KitchenWitch!

I'm so glad you're OK.

Damnit!- Some SOB STARTED the fire?!?

That really pisses me off! :nuke:

I wonder how many pyros were behind the ten fires raging in SoCal
right now?
The conditions were prime for those maniacs.

Edit; Larry (SO) took a mask( what are they called? The masks worn by medical personnel and
constructions works to keep crap out of your lungs/ prevent spreading germs?) with him to work, today.
He's got asthma, too.

Use a scarf if you don't have anything else.
:pals:

11. Update from Costa Mesa.

The sky is clearing, bigtime!
No smoke to the south.

Is the fire contained/out?

it sure looks like it.

8. Arson.
That always outrages me...

Especially when people I love are affected, as now...

12. I spoke too soon.

The smoke is back, it's very heavy in the south.
The winds have really picked up.

So the fire is fall from out-
