Have you ever taken a break from DU?
I'm considering doing so.

If you have, would you share why, how long, etc.?

personal reasons or to be more productive in life. Times varied. A month or so probably. I've never made an good bye cruel board post though.

3. Yes, and am considering doing it now
as a matter of fact. There are things offline that I need to be doing and aren't getting done. I'm just reading and reading and not really being productive.

But I would never leave permanently. The folks here mean too much to me. :grouphug:

4. Yep, I took a short break during the summer.

I would check in periodically, about once a week.
That lasted about 6-7 weeks.

Does that count as a break?

:hi:

11. Yeah, I had to break after the '04 elections, too.
I was only gone about a month, but the whole place was nuttier than a squirrel then: infighting reigned!

14. I know what you mean
but for me, it wasn't DU as much as it was just being sick of anything political. I was in disbelief that this country could make such a tragic mistake and just didn't care anymore. '06 brought me back around a bit

18. I don't actually think the country voted Bush in the 2nd time, either.
But it sure was infuriating and depressing all the same. Glad to have you back--even if the '06 elections brought in the spineless Dem majority we now have in Congress.

24. I have my doubts too
I actually think it might wind up being a good thing in the long run either way. He's certainly screwed things all to hell in the short run, but I think he's put a taint on the Repuke party that isn't going away anytime soon.....

Just short breaks both times. Sometimes you get into it in GD and you need a break.

Sometimes my break only lasts half a day, though! lol!

The reasons? How much time have you got?

If I shared the major reason I would be banned. We'll just leave it at that.

31. Yep... From June 4 to July 4 earlier this year.
Things were just feeling way too hectic, I felt like I had the weight of the world on my shoulders, and I felt like there was nothing I could do to help stop the absolute insanity that was engulfing the world

So I stepped away from it all for two full weeks, then slowly eased back in with some articles from reputable sources (i.e., NOT M$M), followed by a week where I added in Keith Olbermann again, and I finally came back on July 4th. Those were a couple of interesting weeks, having no idea what was really going on in the world...

I'm not sure how long it's been...several months at least. I just felt I was spending too much time online. Plus my work schedule changed.
