My mom has been evacuated and says there's only one neighborhood left between her and the fires.
And to make things worse, right now she's in the hospital staying with another relative (just for observation at this point). Because of that, she only had 15 minutes to get stuf out of her house, and I don't think she got the stuff she should have or wanted to.

She's taking it very well, says if the house burns down that's that. But she's the keeper of all the family photos, etc.

Let this be a reminder too all of us: Make a disaster pack with copies of your important paperwork, insurance policies, etc. As much as possible, keep all "irreplaceable" items in one area so they can be grabbed if necessary. I'm going to make mine this weekend.

7. Check this blog out:
http://sosdfireblog.blogspot.com/

Scroll down a bit to "Mandatory evacuations in Encinitas." Read the "comments." There's some good links there.

Good luck and welcome to DU!

10. Good thoughts your way.
And thanks for the reminder. Even after all of this, we have not sat down and figured out a plan. But I just heard that there is a fresh blaze in Acton, east of me. If it travels, it could be trouble for my neighborhood. Time to make a plan.

12. Absolutely! Do that now!
I hope you'll never need it, but if you do it could save you even more heartache in the end. Good luck to you and your neighborhood.
