1. Agree
I saw him on TV after a 22 1/2 hour day at O'Hair ball in Chicago. I have never laughed so hard in my life. It was not just sleep deprivation either as I found out while watching another special of his.
Brilliant!

3. You Should Watch His Show on FX, "The Riches"
One of the best and probably most over-looked show on TV. It's truly, truly outstanding.

20. I think the new season of The Riches will start up Monday March 10, on FX..
We didn't miss a show last season, and I am looking forward to the new one...

Good stuff.

Eddie Izzard really is one of the best at stand up I have ever seen. Totally not your Mother's comic, but still funny as heck. Be sure and check out his website. Even THAT is funny.

so clever and so unlike anything I'd ever seen before. I loved it! (Minnie Driver

5. Action transvestite! Executive transvestite!
"In heels, as well!"

And Engelbert Humperdinck! Yes, he was the man. That's not his real name; he's from Britain, but that's not his name. There's very few Humperdincks in Britain. He was born Gerry Dorsey, not Engelbert Humperdinck. His parents were not Mr. and Mrs. Humperdinck. They never said, "What shall we call our son so he does not get the shit kicked out of him at school?"

“We shall call him Engelbert!"

"Good, that'll work!"

No, his name was Gerry Dorsey, and he released songs as Gerry Dorsey, songs such as (mumbles), which didn't work 'cause nobody could hear what he was saying. And then his managers, obviously, said, "We're going to change your name, Gerry! It's the name that's the problem." And his name changed from Gerry Dorsey to Engelbert Humperdinck. I mean, I just wanted to be in the room when they were working that one through.

"Zingelbert Bembledack! Yingybert Dambleban! Zangelbert Bingledack! Wingelbert Humptyback! Slut Bunwalla!"

"What?!"

"All right, Kringelbert Fishtybuns! Steviebuns Bottrittrundle..."

"No, Gerry Dorsey, I like Gerry Dorsey!"

"No, we can't do it... Who we got? Zingelbert Bembledack, Tringelbert Wangledack, Slut Bunwalla, Klingybun Fistelvase, Dindlebert Zindledack, Gerry Dorsey, Engelbert Humptyback, Zengelbert Bingledack, Engelbert Humperdinck, Vingelbert Wingledanck..."

"No, no, go back one. Go back one. 'Engelbert Humperdinck.' That's it."

36. Wow - you picked the one bit where I totally lost it. I mean, I was SHRIEKING and screaming
with laughter till drool came out. And this was in PUBLIC! I couldn't help myself.
At that moment, I was completely at his mercy.

The other time that happened (I'm not sure which show of his it was in) was the bit about the shower.
Do you remember it?

Oh, and aslo the part about the vacuum ("Hoover").

But Englebert Humperdinck was probably the hardest I ever laughed in my life.
Thanks for posting it here!!!!!

34. OMFG, I knew I loved DU, but this puts me over the moon bec. I ADORE Eddie Izzard, and there are
so many others here who do, as well.
The man's an absolute genius. I've seen 3 of his shows in person, have everything he ever recorded, have pre-ordered the DVD set of
'The Riches" and also saw him on Boardway in "joe Egg." BIG fan.

Not only is he the funniest man who ever lived IMO, but he is unbelievably intelligent, with a huge frame of reference that includes history,
architecture, other cultures, you name it. Do you know that he did his comedy show in France,
in FRENCH!? The whole show, in French! I lived in Brussels for 5 years and worked as a French translator, but humor in French was almost
impossible, at least for me. The French do not have stand-up comics and are not used to the timing of it. So Eddie's success in that realm
is crazy-ambitious-daring and mind-blowing! He also is planing to do a complete show in German. (I can't even imagine that one).

My son (who lives in LA) is also a huge fan and gets notified by email as soon as an "Eddie-gig" is being contemplated. My son usually
goes for two or three of the available nights. And guess what? Every night is a different show!! Eddie is testing every line and tangent,
making mental notations about what works and what doesn't, putting together a new act by testing different parts of it in front of different
audiences. This man, as talented as he is, really works hard at his craft.

Oof! I'm so happy to see how many other fans of his are DUers. That proves we're a smart-ass bunch!

Ta-ta for now!
