Last night my drama-choir-student-council-type daughter decided she now LIKES Baseball because as she put it "Pedroia is ~HOT~".

The boy has some moves.

but set to punk music, blasting from the car that was providing the headlights she was dancing in.

She was pretty good.

Moreso if she was soaking wet and in her skivvies.

Last year the Rockies went public with the news that the organization was looking for players with "character." And according to team management, "character" means players who have chosen Jesus as their personal Lord and manager. "We're nervous, to be honest with you," Rockies general manager Dan O'Dowd said at the time. "It's the first time we ever talked about these issues publicly. The last thing we want to do is offend anyone because of our beliefs."

Rockies chairman and CEO Charlie Monfort took it further, saying, "I think character-wise we're stronger than anyone in baseball. Christians, and what they've endured, are some of the strongest people in baseball. I believe God sends signs, and we're seeing those." The team took some heat for its statements, especially when former players spoke of having their lockers searched for dirty magazines and feeling pressure that you had to be down with the God Squad to feel part of the team. It also raised the question of whether the team was discriminating against non-Christian players -- would Jewish icon Shawn Green be welcome? What about just straight-up heathens?

Now I have no issues when it comes to Christians playing baseball but personally that sounds a bit discrimatory with what's happening in Colorado. Hell Marge Schott got rid of David Wells because he had a visible tattoo on his arm (not kidding!) but this is going off the deepend with Colorado.

So as much as it hurts to actually cheer on with the likes of WillPitt and Matcom - um, GO RED SOX!

It's not bad to be the massively favored team with the huge payroll, demolishing all opposition. Just own that mantle. You'll find it's often warm and comfortable. You don't always have to be the scrappy underdog. And it's not bad to have the second largest payroll in baseball, one that enables you to get the best players and squash all opponents. These aren't bad things, and I don't know why mentioning them seems like "instigation" to you. Suck it up and be nice.

I don't think I've posted one nasty comment in any of these threads. I've certainly never called anybody any names at all, though I've been called a lot of names myself. You don't like the commentary, so you imagine it to be nasty. I've stayed above board and cordial throughout.

And for the record, I think the payroll argument is bullshit. Others don't, and I'm sometimes imitating them. The point is that one can't really have it both ways. I'd be more than happy to have people stop using it, or apply it to their own team.

As for the Mets, it's impossible to hurt me with that! :rofl: We KNOW that we suck, to historic proportions, payroll or no.

Just joking. I'm not really outraged over a baseball game. Hell, at least last night was a lot closer than that God-awful Game 1.

part of me would like to see the series come back to Boston so we have the chance to win at home

then again, part of me doesn't like to tempt fate like that.

If it comes back to Boston, that means the Series is 3-2 one way or the other. At least that's better than the lame shutouts we've seen the last three or four years.

I'm not one who wants an easy sweep. I love a good game.

I'd rather win in 4 than lose in 7

but I'm sure for others, they may not feel that way.
