Contains ingrediant derived from Crustacean shellfish
That's what it says on my packet of Emergen-C Joint Health Fizzy drink. What the hell am I drinking?
And...isn't a crustacean shellfish redundent?

1. Weird - crustacean is a scientific term, shellfish is a general layman's term
and they normally are different things - crustaceans are things like lobster, crab, shrimp; but also some crustaceans are land-based and not sea creatures at all.

Shellfish is a term that usually means only mollusks (the scientific term) like oysters, clams, mussels, etc., though since it isn't a scientific term, it is also used (erroneously, IMO) for lobster, crabs, etc. (they don't really have shells - they have skeletons on the outside of their body; a shell is more properly a home-like thing that is not shaped like the creature that lives inside it).

So, I have no idea.

4. "500 mg Glucosamine & 400 mg Chondroitin "
These usually come from shellfish, unless otherwise noted on the packaging.

10. Well, shark cartilage doesn't do anything except deplete shark populations.
According to the NIH, glucosamine and chondriotin might be useful in reducing moderate to severe joint pain, but have no effect on mild joint pain.

13. wiki chitosan -- derived from shrimp/crab shells.
A potent blood clotting agent -- I'd be cautious about taking it internally.
