Sucks and blows
Opposites, one would say, but used in similar ways. "My life sucks," one person says. "My life blows," says the other. Yet both people are describing lives that are unpleasant.

And let's not forget other usages. "My wife..." well, you get the picture.

Why would this be?

Can I?

Perhaps I should hand in my portfolio as Minister of Shoe Shopping and exchange it for Ponderer of Obscure and Meaningless Trivia. :think:

2. one of my favorite old cartoons ......
A distinguished couple is walking down the hallway of an old-time elegant hotel, with the bellhop. They have a shocked expression at the conversation that they are hearing through the open transom of one of the rooms, where a voice is saying:

"Suck, baby, suck! Blow is just a figure of speech!"
