I had taken it from my pants pocket and hadn't lifted it to the counter. She seemed scared, but with the number of security cameras, I wouldn't have been... it's not like I had a big gun or anything...

Life is so much like Three's Company without having to think about it...

1. Is that at least three forms of photo ID in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

2. It was a liquor store, maybe she thought I had the bad type of gun...
Wait a minute, I'm a male. Doesn't matter if it's made of metal or fleshy spongy fun-to-hold-on-to material, anyone wielding a gun-shaped object is eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevil.

4. Never been I.D.ed
I'd take it as an insult - but then I gather that we have a much more relaxed attitude to alcohol over here.

5. Weird ID story
My friend owns a couple of nightspots in Manchester, NH. A few years back, he was at one of those responsible server training sessions run by the state Liquor Enforcement bureau.

The rules state that you are only supposed to accept certain forms of identification. Among them are a driver's license issued by a state or province (we have a lot of tourists from Quebec in the summer). My friend asked, "what if they have a Washington, DC license? Can I serve them"?

The answer?

"No! It has to be from a state, and Washington, DC is not a state".

WTF?
