Southeastern/Mid-Atlantic DUers: Anyone looking to adopt a young cat?
We currently have 7 cats, and one more might send my husband over the edge. Anyway - in the last few days, two young females have shown up, probably born in the spring, as they look to be about 6-7 months old. Shorthaired brown/gray tabbies (no pics yet, sorry). One is EXTREMELY affectionate, the other one eats and takes off (though is not feral - just has other things to do). These girls are definitely not even remotely feral.

The one who is hanging around really would be an excellent companion. She is a SWEETHEART. I'm going to get her spayed and get her all her shots in the next 1-2 weeks; she'd be ready-to-go to a wonderful, loving home by December. I'm also prepared to deliver her to you if you're in the Southeast or Mid-Atlantic region of the US. Or, my husband and I might be doing a cross-country trip in the coming months to see my family on the west coast; I could bring her with me then ... I'm actually going to get both of them spayed, etc., but this little girlkitty hanging around now will be the easiest to catch/spay/etc.

Can anyone help? Anyone looking for an affectionate cat? I know there are online resources, I'm just going to DUers first....

Thanks!

4. Thanks for helping the critters.
I understand the "full house" problem. I have eight animals right now and it is all I can handle & do it right. (Vet bills are a major budget item). The most satisfaction I have had lately was finding a home for a dog who was dumped. I took care of all the vet issues (spaying, 1st shots) and found a family for her.

They still e-mail me with Maisey updates. It cost a couple of hundred bucks when all was said & done. Best thing I have done for myself in a long time. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. It felt good. Just thought I would bump your post up to the top Flaxbee!

5. Hi, Wcross, and thanks for the encouragement!
I live in a rural area, as I believe you do, too, and we get lots of strays. The feral males I do my best to catch and fix (though haven't done much the last few months, I need to borrow another humane trap) but this little female is SO FRIENDLY and so in need of a family. The boys can take care of themselves - are loners - but this girl needs someone, she's definitely been someone's pet ...

A DUer took in a female cat I found several years ago and has given her a fantastic home, so I'm hoping lightning might strike twice and I'll get lucky again with DU. If not, though, I'll hang on to her until I can find her a home (or the local no-kill shelter has a spot for her, if I can bring myself to take her there). If we had a home of our own, instead of rented, I'd probably just keep her but -- ??

Anyway - I appreciate the bump! Thanks! And thank you for all you do to help the creatures in your area!! I take comfort knowing that there are lots of kind people out there who help animals whenever and wherever they can.

8. another kick for the weekday crowd...
One of the young females WANTS a home - the other one is kinda indifferent, but Charlotte (I was calling her Agnes, now it's Charlotte) really, really needs a person.

Anyone?

9. Kick and a recommend!
I have Malta Blue's cat and he's been a wonderful addition to our home. We needed an old guy to balance off Frodo and the little bitey cat! Sapa just loves to crawl onto my chest, cuddle up to the side of my head and purr away.
