What's for dinnah, DU?
Edited on Sat Nov-10-07 06:20 PM by bicentennial_baby
We're making a hearty and yummy beef stew, 'cause it's 37 degrees outside and we're in a husband-wife cooking mood. :)

How about you?

On edit, I guess I could include the ingredients...Stew beef marinated in red wine and garlic, potatoes, onions, turnips, garlic, carrots, beef stock, wine, water, spices.

And we'll have it with a big loaf of french bread. :9

We try to make a stop there whenever we fly into Logan. Basic pie, done simply, with an ambiance that Dennis Lehane (Mystic River) would love.

We just pulled the last of the peppers from the garden today. So, tomorrow night it's Pasilla peppers stuffed with a mexican style rice and some stuffed with refried beans and pepper jack cheese.

Your stew sounds wonderful!

Lest anyone get all worked up about the consumption of pork products, I hasten to add that the sausage was made with ground chicken.

It is the one meal I can serve that nobody will complain about in my household. We ate every bite of it.

You give your order and then you take a seat and they bring it to you. You can get all sorts of dinners...pasta, fish, whatever the special is, soups, plus all the usual fast food fare.

42. soft chicken tacos
I simmered frozen chicken breasts with some salsa and seasonings, and will shred it up when done. Soft corn tortillas, grated cheese, lettuce, etc., to wrap around the chicken. Also refried beans with cheese, and some corn from the freezer that I'll pan fry to char a bit. For the teens, I make orange julius or purple cows to go with Mexican food. There's tonsilitis in the house, so I think the smooth, icy beverage will be welcome to them.

59. Last night we were at a charity dinner.
We had white fish chicken, a salad of mixed greens, walnuts, dried cranberries and blue cheese, a rice dish that included brown, white and wild rices, mixed vegetables including two kinds of peppers, broccoli, cauliflower and carrots, a variety of breads and choice of either lemon or chocolate torte.

It was quite delicious.

Tonight, Shepherd's pie.

60. Yesterday we dined with friends
who cooked for us....we started off loaves of wonderfully crusty bread, goat cheese marinated in olive oil, sheep's milk feta and olives marinated in olive oil and herbs, various meats, and quince paste.

The main course was a lovely, rich beef stew with mushrooms in a red wine sauce, served over polenta. Green salad to finish. Still more bread to sop up the lovely stew gravy. We had plenty of good red wine to wash it down with.

We ate this sitting next to a cozy fire on a drizzly early evening in their home in the country, just outside of Napa.

Heaven!!! :9
