College Football Thursday: Oregon at Arizona game thread

Anybody else watching? They've actually had a pretty good lineup of games on Thursday nights this year.

Oregon just scored a touchdown on a 4th and 3, then got a two point conversion to go up 8-0.

Impressive start for the Ducks.

Oklahoma in (I think) 1995--they faked the extra point after the first TD and got the two-point conversion. It set the tone for the entire game.

This is a big game, and I would think that both teams want to get as many points as they can.

The only time I would object to something like that when it's the end of the game, and it's clearly just running up the score for the hell of it.

But at the beginning of the game? I say go for it. That one extra point may BE the game in the end.

Mike Stoops got the job, because I'm an Oklahoma fan at heart and I wanted him to do well. (Truth told, I thought he'd have had more success by now, but they're certainly looking better in the second half of this season.) Before that, I usually liked AZ (except when Mackovic was there, since he came from Texas) but didn't really follow them.

And, of course, an AZ win would be a big boost for my Sooners :)

What a great win for the Wildcats and their fans.

The student section poured out of the stands onto the sideline shortly after that field goal and had to wait 15-20 minutes before storming the field :rofl:

Even if Dixon comes back and is able to play the full game at UCLA and against Oregon State they might not escape both games unscathed. And it was pretty obvious tonight how much Dixon means to that team, so if he can't play then all bets are off.

As for AZ and ASU, the Wildcats have the next 17 days to prepare (and ASU has a game against USC in the meantime), so while I'm not exactly confident they'll win and get bowl eligible, I do think there's reason to hope :)
