You know, folks, when I post something hot off the griddle...as in CNN or MSNBC printing "updated 2 minutes ago"...and I look in GD or GD-P two hours later and see it posted again, and then again after that, and again...
I do not go to those threads and say "IT'S ALREADY BEEN POSTED" and post the link(s).
I figure the person simply didn't check, and in the big scheme of things (war in Iraq & Afghanistan, many Americans without medical insurance, an economy that favors the "investor class" and whizzes on everyone else)...it's pretty much none of my fuckin' business.
If you've posted on DU for any length of time, you've either done this to someone or had it done to you.
Being a "Why can't we all just get along" kind of guy, I'm wondering...what IS it that leads someone to elect themselves to the position of "Duplicate Thread Enforcement Official?"
I have no issue with the mods combining threads...they're doing their job, and it is (I am sure) appreciated by us all.
I also have no issue with people who have posted threads pointing me to theirs with a link...it's reciprocal, and if they posted the topic first, I'm happy to have my thread direct traffic to theirs.
I'm talking about the folks who take it upon themselves. What are they looking for? An apology? Slit wrists? A quick jump off the roof?
