Well, we had 25+ loud Irish people in one room, drinking like fish for hours, and
the loudest sound was that of constant laughter. My cheekbones are still sore from laughing.

No fights. No arguments. Although it is typical of my family that drinking leads to laughing and singing and idiotic practical jokes (we still haven't found six of the eleven corn fritters the cousins hid in various places around the house), it does seem to be a rare thing to have so many people drinking so much with NO problems.

God, that was a great Thanksgiving. Mrs R is one happy camper today.

1. It sounds like a
wonderful time!

Mine was also, even if I did feel I was in the "Republican Reserve" (my nephews all gathered in one place). Darned good thing I am the favorite Aunt. Political discussion with them was actually fun, although I don't appear to have taught the dunderheads much.

Glad you had such a wonderful day, Redstone.

10. That's a good thing about Thanksgiving; a chance to connect with the next generation
by talking with them, even if you can only do so in bits and pieces of time.

I'll bet that being the "favorite aunt" is enjoyable for you. I've turned out to be "the uncle everyone likes but can't quite figure out," which works very well for me.

4. Now, THERE is one strong reason for you to be happy about how your day went.
We're damn lucky in this family that we don't have any "problem drinkers." The ones who don't handle alcohol well (we have a few) just don't drink.

And I am very thankful for that.

9. So we're not the only ones. Maybe because when we were kids (us and
our cousins), our parents' generation was much the same. They'd scream and yell at each other while playing cards or other games, but it didn't mean anything; they were just having fun in an extremely loud manner.

11. Yeah, we're a very loud family.
We're also very open, with essentially nothing being off limits.

If an outsider spent the holidays with us, they would think we were insane.

12. Sounds like all of you truly enjoy yourselves
It really is refreshing.

We had a very nice Thanksgiving. There wasn't any consumption of legal beverages but we did enjoy each others company and had a wonderful time. You can't ask for anything more.
It helps when the entire family is all of the Democratic persuasion. No political arguments with our group.

14. I was wondering how your day turned out.
All those people :)

Sounds like a good time was had by all, even the corn fritters.

15. Well, we'll see how the fritters feel, the longer it takes us to find them.
