My wife's grandmother used to INSIST that we eat off of the "good china" for

Thanksgiving.

She was blind, so we would give her a china place setting while the rest of us ate off of paper plates.

She passed away about a month ago, but we all had a laugh thinking about her yesterday...

It sure was quiet without her.

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!!

1. Good story!

My grandmother used to call on one of the kids to say grace. It was a nerve wracking experience. More often than not the kid would get the words mixed up or even do the pledge of allegiance by mistake.
The one who would save the day with her giggles was my 80 something great-aunt.
Holidays are for remembering - hope yours was good too.

2. We had to clean out my parents' house the last few years.

It was my grandmother's house before that.

We found tons of china, glass and silver and sold most of it.

We kept the good stuff, and now we eat off the T. Haviland every day and use real sterling flatware, not plate, every day.

Life is too short to save the good china for special occasions (unless you have little kids and pets).
