Nipa (a name I gave) usually gets called "Nipa" ('cuz I CHOSE the name and it fits her...) but sometimes gets called "Hound Dog" (for variety).

Abby (a dog I dog-sit at times) doesn't hear too much variety, but often gets additions, such as "Abby McDabby."

He had multiple birth defects and lived longer than anyone thought he would. He waited until my son had a chance to say goodbye, and then he just went to sleep. If he had lingered any longer we would have had to have made the decision to put him down. We buried him in the back yard. My 3-year-old son understood very well what had happened. It was a good first death experience for him.

Our eldest dog Ed was rescued from the pound...the whole litter had been taken away from their owner - they were beaten and starved. Since then Ed has turned into a gorgeous collie mix


she is the all-brown one. Anyway whenever we would see her stretched out on the bed or couch we would affectionly say...aww look at the fat ass.... she thinks its her name now.

We had this little brindle kitty who kind of looked like a ferret. We couldn't get any other name to stick, so she was "Ferret-face" through her kittenhood.

Finally she began to fill out. "Ferret-face" wasn't cutting it any more. We decided to let her pick her own name. We wrote several names on slips of paper and but them in a bowl. She actually did reach in and pull one out! From then on she was "Elsa".

Elsa also had a disconcerting habit of going outside once a month and teasing the neighborhood males, long after she'd been altered. :shrug:

Dexter the cat is almost always Doctor or Doc because my young nephew couldn't say Dexter.

So fitting! Molly has actually become MUCH more friendly up here. She used to be Al's cat.

She sleeps with me now, but the minute she hears Fargo wake up in the front room and come to see me to let me know it's time for morning walkies, POOF! She's outta there! I'm wondering if they will ever snuggle up like our dog and cats did when I was little. It was very cute! I think she's just afraid he will crush her!

It was pretty cold today (felt like 7 with the wind chill! Zoinks!). I had to pull out the long johns for the first time. It won't be the last! I better go stock up on a few more pairs.

Saturday and Sunday it's supposed to be nasty-- snow, sleet and such. And figures-- I've been doing laundry every 2 weeks, and this is laundry weekend. THIS is going to be fun. God, I miss my washer and dryer!

I just got placed at a place out in Waukesha, so get to make a 17 mile highway drive to and from every day. My baptism by fire for Wisconsin winter! :scared: Everybody laugh at the newbie! :cry:
