THREE DOG NIGHT APPRECIATION THREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9uxlWQp9qA

"Never Been To Spain"

(As recorded by Three Dog Night)

Well I never been to Spain
But I kinda like the music
Say the ladies are insane there
And they sure know how to use it
They don't abuse it
Never gonna lose it
I can't refuse it, umm

Well I never been to England
But I kinda like the Beatles
Well I headed out for Las Vegas
Only made it out to Needles
Can you feel it
Must be real it
Feels so good
Woah it feels so good

Well I never been to heaven
But I've been to Oklahoma
Woah they tell me I was born there
But I really don't remember
In Oklahoma, not Arizona
What does it matter
What does it matter

Woah I never been to Spain
But I kinda like the music
Say the ladies are insane there
And they sure know how to use it
They don't abuse it
Never gonna lose it
I can't refuse it, woah

Well I never been to heaven
But I've been to Oklahoma
Well they tell me I was born there
But I really don't remember
In Oklahoma, not Arizona
What does it matter
What does it matter.

so
WHO WANTS TO GO WITH ME!!!????????

Shambala

Wash away my troubles, wash away my pain
With the rain in Shambala
Wash away my sorrows, wash away my shame
With the rain in Shambala

*Ooooh... yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah*

*This part repeats twice after each verse

Everyone is helpful, everyone is kind
On the road to Shambala
Everyone is lucky, everyone is so kind
On the road to Shambala

How does your light shine
In the halls of Shambala
How does your light shine
In the halls of Shambala

I can tell my sister 'bout the flowers in her eyes
On the road to Shambala
I can tell my brother 'bout the flowers in his eyes
On the road to Shambala

How does your light shine
In the halls of Shambala
How does your light shine
In the halls of Shambala
Tell me how, how does your light shine
In the halls of Shambala
Tell me how, how does your light shine
In the halls of Shambala

With various "oooo's," "yeah, yeah, yeahs," and "Shambala" until the
fadeout.

4. Mama Told Me Not To Come
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7ITVD9A3hA

Want some whiskey in your water?
Sugar in your tea?
What's all these crazy questions they're askin' me?
This is the craziest party that could ever be
Don't turn on the lights 'cause I don't wanna see

Mama told me not to come
Mama told me not to come
"That ain't the way to have fun, no"

Open up the window, let some air into this room
I think I'm almost chokin' from the smell of stale perfume
And that cigarette you're smokin' 'bout scare me half to death
Open up the window, sucker, let me catch my breath

Mama told me not to come
Mama told me not to come
"That ain't the way to have fun, son"
"That ain't the way to have fun, son"

The radio is blastin', someone's knockin' at the door
I'm lookin' at my girlfriend - she's passed out on the floor
I seen so many things I ain't never seen before
Don't know what it is - I don't wanna see no more

Mama told me not to come
Mama told me not to come
She said, "That ain't the way to have fun, son"
"That ain't the way to have fun, no"

"That ain't the way to have fun, no"
"That ain't the way to have fun, son"
"That ain't the way to have fun, no"
"That ain't the way to have fun, son"

"That ain't the way to have fun, no"
"That ain't the way to have fun, son"
"That ain't the way to have fun, no"
"That ain't the way to have fun, son

12. One IS the loneliest number
I was not a huge fan back in the day, but the boys could sing.

I saw them recently on a PBS oldies show, and they STILL could sing.

One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
Two can be as bad as one
It's the loneliest number since the number one

No is the saddest experience you'll ever know
Yes, it's the saddest experience you'll ever know
`Cause one is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
One is the loneliest number, worse than two

It's just no good anymore since she went away
Now I spend my time just making rhymes of yesterday

One is the loneliest, number one is the loneliest
Number one is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
One is the loneliest, one is the loneliest
One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
It's just no good anymore since she went away
(Number) One is the loneliest
(Number) One is the loneliest
(Number) One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
(Number) One is the loneliest
(Number) One is the loneliest
(Number) One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do

14. "Joy to the World" holds a special place in my heart
Edited on Tue Nov-27-07 09:06 AM by Mad_Dem_X
As a child, I loved that song (even tho' I didn't really know what it was about). One of my fondest memories was being at a restaurant with my parents; there was a live band playing at the bar in the next room. I wanted to hear them play JTTW, so my dad took me in there and gave me a dollar. I remember him holding me up so I could give the money to the singer and request "Jeremiah was a bullfrog."

Many years later, at my wedding, the deejay played that song specifically for my dad and me to dance to.

VERY underrated song . . . written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin!

Their version is haunting.
