Can you give a dog a raw chicken neck?

Can you give a dog a raw chicken neck?
I've read posts from people here who do raw food diets for their dogs, and it includes whole parts.

When I get a chicken from the store, I give the dog the raw giblets, but I always take the neck out because of the bones. But some say raw bones are OK.

So... dog experts? What say you?

hell, nobody's out on the tundra grilling for the wolves. They manage.

But I do worry about bones, which is why he hasn't had any. But I've heard of dog owners giving a whole raw chicken for the dog to devour... and I guess in the wild, that's what they eat. Wild chickens. Really fierce ones.

4. True, And It Can't Be Any Worse For Them Than
what may be in the expensive dog food we've been feeding them. For a few months, I gave mine de-boned cooked chicken, rice and vitamins even though our food never made the bad list.

Salmonella. E. coli. Campylobacter. Not worth the risk - to the dog or to humans in the household who may come in contact with secondary bacterial shedding.

8. I wouldn't give my dog raw chicken, but I have given her cooked
chicken and turkey necks. I've been told that those bones don't splinter like the hollow leg and wing bones. I know that if she was surviving in the wild that she would eat raw meat, (even with hollow bones) but I just have a thing about it.

9. Raw chicken bones are a no-no in my book.
What your pup would love is if you made a tasty broth by boiling that chicken neck, and pour that over kibble or whatever the normal food is.

12. To be honest, I'm not a fan of raw anything these days.
Beef bones (raw) would be far safer than chicken as far as splintering goes, though.

small ones and fragments piercing the digestive tract.

I give them to my cat. You can cook it if you don't want it eaten raw (although you know a dog stomach can tolerate things that no human stomach ever could.)

Edited to add: do NOT feed any other chicken bones though - those splinter and can pierce internal organs.

17. Mine get raw turkey necks.
They're cartilage, not bone. I don't give them chicken necks because they're too small and would be swallowed in one gulp, negating the benefit of chewing them. Never had a problem in about 14 years. Had less need for dentals, too.

18. I wouldn't do it, but I have friends who are into BARF diets
who do. They specifically buy chicken necks and give them to their dogs raw. They insist that they're safe raw, but not cooked.

So, again, I wouldn't, but I know people who do. FWIW.
