Now that deer are extremely active, PLEASE drive carefully.
:scared: My brother-in-law hit a deer early Sunday morning on his way to work. It killed the deer and totalled his car (he's OK, thankfully). I have almost hit deer three times in the past year, and it scared the hell out of both me AND the deer each time. Please, please, PLEASE pay closer attention as you drive, especially in wooded areas or the country.

:)

1. They are horny and are paying less attention to traffic than usual.

Deer shouldn't drive when they're horny.
I've been saying this for years, but no-one ever listens.

Exactly.
They're chasing tail and totally oblivious to the danger. :(

9. Yes, start paying more attention to the deer.
You bought it dinner and whispered sweet nothings; now give it the attention it deserves.

2. I concur...
I was a passenger recently with my brother driving late at night. we were driving over a winding mountain road, and I told him "slow down - there are lots of deer around here." About 10 seconds after I said that, a deer darted in front of us.

He believed me then.

7. LTTE in my local tiny town paper
was from a lady who wanted to know if the county could move the deer crossing signs. She wants the deer to cross somewhere else, because too many were causing accidents at the current places.

8. One of the longest drives of my life... Taconic State Pkwy, Manhattan
to Albany, driving at night. We left Manhattan around 10 p.m. About 30 miles north of the city we saw the first deer. We slowed down. A Nissan pick up raced around us going about 80. Over the next hill we found five deer in our lane just as we came over the rise. A few more curves and we found the Nissan, freshly plowed into a deer. The driver said he'd be okay. He was just shaken up. The deer was dead. After that we'd came upon anywhere from 2 to a dozen deer every time we turned a corner. It got to be quite frightening because even driving slowly you never knew when was going to bolt. It took FOREVER to get to Albany and we still had to drive east to Amherst, MA. I bet we saw 200 deer by the roadway and out in the median.
