How much would it cost...
...to hire someone to do my shopping until after Christmas? x( I don't need a weekly reminder that I am far from happy, far from my family, far from anything I've ever cared about. I'm going to go batshit crazy by then.

3. The trick is to do it anyway, in spite of the situation, and it will heal.
If you have a hobby or interest, find a local enthusiasts group...and in the meantime

4. A suggestion?
Either wait until the last minute and shop in a blind panic (tends to dull the senses) or just pretend it's the last minute and do it all in one afternoon with the same panic.

7. What Peake and Tyler Durden said.
Make your mind up to get it all done in one day and be done with it. Do it soon because you need to mail everything. Cheapest ways to mail take the longest time to deliver.

After you're done, designate your day off as "Be Good to FTA" day. If that means strolling in a park, or going to a movie, or any other low-cost, low stress treat. It helps.

11. It isn't just the holiday shopping...
...it's going to the grocery store and being faced with all that 'Ain't Christmas great?' hokum. I have to grocery shop...

thanks.

15. I know.
But try to enjoy Christmas for yourself. That's why I suggested little gifts for FTA.
When you hear that Christmas stuff in the grocery store, go buy a buck's worth of treat just for you. A piece of chocolate, or cheese, or olives or something. You're right, you can't stop shopping for food, so make it work for you. The dollar limit keeps you from overindulging and spending too much -- I know your budget's tight.

And I forgot these:

9. I always make one mass shopping trip right before Thanskgiving
I get everything I couple possibly need, i.e. toothpaste, TP, meds, groceries, etc. then all there is left is gassing the car and I can grab a fresh gallon of milk there.

I hate the holiday hustle and bustle too.

18. In 1977 I bought something like that....
The following summer, I used it as a skeet clay pigeon.

19. Move to Indy...
I would be more than happy to spend someone else's money! Too bad you are so far away. Seriously, I wouldn't mind doing your shopping for you, as long as it did not include a trip to the mall.

Hang in there. It will all be over in about 5 weeks.
