The Three Most Embarassing CDs in your music collection:
..that is, the ones you have to hide when 'people who matter'* show up.

Mine:
1.Leslie Gore's Greatest Hits
2.The film soundtrack from 'Bye-Bye Birdie'
3.Elton John's 'Candle in the Wind' Princess Diana tribute.

*people who matter= non-family members or anyone who knows so much about you that that there's no point in hiding anything.

44. Nothings wrong with a little AOB
Guilty pleasure of the 1990s? You bet. But compare it to that other Swedish pop group--those who I refuse to name out of principle and out of the fact they are quite possible the worst example of "music" in human history--and it's musical genius in comparison.

15. I own a LOT of classical music
but the "greatest hits" CD collection is pretty bad. you get maybe one movement of a great symphony, or part of a piano concerto, just the stuff that is more popular. And the recordings are by second rate orchestras you've never heard of.
but it was a gift, the person said, "oh, I know you like classical music, so I got you this." really bad idea, but their heart was in the right place.

the Toys soundtrack I bought becaus of one song - in the movie, Robin Williams sings something called "Things that never happened" which was a pretty good tune in the film. But its not on the soundtrack, you only get a version by Thomas Dolby, who wrote it. Its not bad, but its not what I was looking for.

The Thomas Dolby tune on the "Toys" soundtrack kicks ass, and anybody who disagrees wants to invade Iran. :)

On edit: Thomas Dolby didn't write it, Trevor Horn did. It's called "The Mirror Song."

16. All of these were gifts, BTW
1. Rod Stewart - Blondes Have More Fun - the disco Rod album that includes "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy"
2. 2 Live Crew - As Nasty As They Wanna Be - the x-rated version of this landmark, including such classics as "Dick Almighty," "I Ain't Bullshittin" and, of course, "The Fuck Shop"
3. Screaming Jay Hawkins - Black Music For White People - the album actually is pretty good (includes two Tom Waits covers), but I cringe at the cover art, which features Screamin' Jay staring bug-eyed at the camera with a bone in his nose and holding a pretty white girl.

34. Pat Boone may be a right-wing tool...
...but the arrangements on that album are absolutely brilliant. Some of the best big band arrangers in the world today worked on that album. Not to mention some of the fine players:

Gregg Bissonette
Dawayne Bailey (formerly of Chicago)
Ritchie Blackmore
Dweezil Zappa
Sheila E.
Lenny Castro
Michael Melvoin (father of Wendy and Jonathan)

22. I think I still have the album featuring this gem:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rnGbYOJn_I

"Whatever Happened to Fun?" by Candy, a skinny-leather-tie hairband from LA. This is actually a pretty good pop song. Not sure if anything on the album is even listenable.

The fact that this video is on YouTube is testament to the fact that they do have everything... the comments are pretty funny. Evidently, the drummer now teaches and some of his students found the video.

Leslie Gore is Awesome. :)

Embarassing...I'd have to say "Welcome to the Jungle" by GnR, I've bought it several times over the years, because it's damn good, despite the adolescent misogyny.

Jin's CD...I love that song "Learn Chinese" so much it's not funny. The rest of it is just mediocre.

I've been known to own some hokey country over the years. I lurve Dwight Yoakam's "Guitars, Cadillacs, etc, etc,"

1.- Music of the Peoples of the Soviet Union

This includes Estonian bagpipe music, which sounds like bags of cats beaten with pipes.

2.- Piporro

Mexican Comedian/Singer from the 1960's. Pokes fun at Norteño music (Accordion, guitar, base, and whiny vocals).

3.- Titanic sound track

42. Hmm....
1. Disco Hits of the 1970s. My ex girlfriend got it for me freshman year of college. I've tried to get rid of it so many times but somehow it hasn't gone away--my wife for some reason insists on keeping the damn thing. Worst thing is, stupid thing doesn't have "Stayin' Alive." What sort of greatest Disco hits compliation doesn't have Stayin' Alive?

2. I don't know? Creed? Or some other band that didn't have a lot of staying power?

3. Last but not least:

The Family Auto Mart (of Melbourne, Florida) "Do the Family Man Dance" CD. Yes, I am not joking. There is such a thing. In the Orlando, Florida area, there are 30 minute infomercials with some place called Family Auto Mart where the used car dealership's owner would play to every campy stereotypical trademark of a used car salesman there was. I can't explain it. I was in college. And they actually sold a CD of a song, sung by the Family Auto Mart guy. And I paid $6 to buy it. It's so bad, I have to keep it as a momento.

59. I forgot this guilty pleasure...
Little River Band - Greatest Hits

Friday night, it was late
I was walking you home
We got down to the gate
And I was dreaming of the night
Would it turn out right?

How to tell you, girl
I wanna build my world around you
Tell you that it's true
I wanna make you understand
I'm talking about a lifetime plan

That's the way it began
We were hand-in-hand
Glenn Miller's band
Was better than before
We yelled and screamed for more

And the Porter tune
(Night And Day)
Made us dance across the room
It ended all too soon
On the way back home
I promised you'd never be alone

Hurry, don't be late
I can't hardly wait
I said to myself when we're old
We'll go dancing in the dark
Walking through the park
And reminiscing

Friday night, it was late
I was walking you home
We got down to the gate
And I was dreaming of the night
Would it turn out right?

Now as the years roll on
Each time we hear our favorite song
The memories come along
Older times we're missing
Spending the hours reminiscing

Hurry, don't be late
I can't hardly wait
I said to myself when we're old
We'll go dancing in the dark
Walking through the park
And reminiscing
