And just where are the posts about the "ideal" looking man?
Edited on Tue Feb-03-04 05:13 PM by GreenPartyVoter
Let's face it. Fat is still a feminist issue. (Starting to catch up to the guys, but still obviously more of a fixation where women are concerned.)

Adding an edit about my ideal guy.. my hubby. *g* He's got great legs. huge shoulders, beautiful grey-green-blue eyes. But no washboard tummy. And that's fine with me. ;)

Second edit: I do like some of the "popular" guys... Viggo as Aragorn, Hugh as Wolverine. And I am still missing Kevin Smith as "Ares" *sniff* But I also go for guys on either end of the size range: David Bowie in "Labyrinth"... Kevin James on "King of Queens.

I can fall for a pretty face or bod, but I tend to fall for personality more. Hence the reason why I like actors as _certain_ characters, but don't look twice at them when playing a different character. :)

2. Most men that are considered attractive (the famous ones).....
aren't fat.

Objectification goes both ways.

They both have the same expressions, and a "who gives a rat's ass" attitude :)

17. Sorry, I have one that beats both of them:
My husband...JanTheStudMuffinMichael.

Naturally, second place would be Bruce Springsteen.

4. I'm a fan of big bears
including bears that carry a little extra weight on them. Big beefy guys are definitely my cup of tea. My husband's a very burly big hairy bear, rather resembling Brian Dennehy.

My ideal guy is definitely not the Hollywood-himbo with six-pack abs - I mean, they might work for a fling, but that's not the type I want to cuddle up with every night.

5. Yahoo News' "top photographs" usually contain lots of female "ideals"
but rarely a male version.

I think the social pressure on men has more to do with how much beer they can drink rather than how tight their ass is.

Right here in this very thread. Which probably none of us will be able to attain. :(

22. He's not the ideal male for many of us
FYI I dated a very skinny guy for 5 years, and other women were constantly after him.

is a spindly, big-kneed, gangly fellow with no chin and a sunken chest. And my sister has no complaints. He's one of the best men I know, even though he is a Promise Keeper.

14. JD is an excellent guitarist
Edited on Tue Feb-03-04 06:20 PM by supernova
esp, steel slide. Keith Richards says so. :P He played in a band and wanted to be a musician long before he discovered acting.

edit: You can see and hear him play in the film Chocolat. That's Django Reinhardt's Minor Swing.

So, if you think Johnny is a "wussy ass", you don't know Johnny.

15. Never seen "Chocolat"
and that's a shame, 'cause Audrey Tatou's a hottie! (that's her name, right?)

Nonetheless, Audrey were none so hot as Monsieur Killmeister!

16. Uh, Juliette Binoche
in Chocolat

Audry Tatou is in Amelie. They do have similar coloring though (fair skin, dark hair), so it's understandable you might get them confused.

Binoche is in Blue (I love le Tricoleur!).

Never saw Amelie, either.

18. Hollywood Pretty Boys leave me cold
Yes, even George Clooney and Johnny Depp. I like a little extra meat on the bones (not fat, but I don't mind a little padding). My ideals are Liam Neeson, Daniel Craig, Gabriel Byrne, Colin Firth, etc.

I guess they are all European, but I think it's because they look like men and not like Cover Boys. They don't seem to be overly groomed or beautified. To each his own, I suppose.
