Who's read Umberto Eco's "The Name of the Rose?"
I've read a few of Eco's essays, which were great, and I've seen the film, which I thought looked like a pretty good movie dumbed down from a really good book.

So I picked up a copy and I'm about two chapters into it. On retrospect, I probably should have known a little more about the history of catholicism before I started reading.

Does it get any clearer?

2. Then read "Foucault's Pendulum"
...and you'll never look at conspiracy theories the same way again.

3. I liked "Foucault's Pendulum" even better. A very good book
Reminded me a bit of the French writer Michel Tournier's book "Gemini" for some reason.

5. Some Parts are Wordy
but overall it's a very good book. You'll enjoy it. Don't worry about the church history bit.
