Last movie you saw?
Last night, I watched this documentary I got from Netflix, "Red Without Blue", about a pair of identical twins, Mark and Alex. Both are gay, but Alex decided to change his gender. The movie talks about their past, their troubled family life, and the discrimination they had to deal with. And about how Alex...now Clair...is dealing with her life as a woman. It's an absolutely fascinating film.

2. I liked "Good Night and Good Luck" a lot.
I've seen it 3 times...just a superb film. Terrific acting all around, interesting subject matter...and filmed in glorious black and white! George Clooney is becoming quite an accomplished film maker!

3. 40 Year Old Virgin
I hadn't taken the time to watch it because it looked like just a slapstick comedy. But of course it was nothing of the sort. It was a great movie. I should have known better. It seems like anything Steve Corell is associated with it is great.

It's a nice movie. And if you want to check out another terrific movie with Steve Corell, check out "Little Miss Sunshine" sometime.

Holy cats, is it good. I think it might be the Coen Brothers' best. Very intense and dark though, FAR more to the "Miller's Crossing" side of their work than to the "Big Lebowski" side.

No Country For Old Men was incredible...Sniffa actually stayed awake through the entire film, which says a lot. He *loved* it. Dark and violent, but riveting.

La Vie En Rose was also incredibly good, I'ma huge Piaf fan, but it was just great. Sniffa also liked it, even though it was en Francais.

I'd be inclined to gravitate toward (I was with a group and we were trying to come up with something that we could all agree on). However, I have in the past few weeks been on a movie binge:
Lars and the Real Girl - Wonderful
No country of Old Men - Outstanding and terrifying
Into the Wild - Excellent
Gone Baby Gone - Outstanding with many plot twists
But the favorite one that I've seen out of all of them is:
Michael Clayton - OMG - I want to see it again. IMHO it's the best movie of the year. George Clooney is absolutely riveting.

Caught a late show yesterday. Pretty creepy flick. Some surprisingly weak CG effects but overall the movie was good. I read that they had a budget of only 18 million, so actually the special effects were quite extraordinary for such a limited budget.

77. "Pierrepoint: The Last Hangman"
I couldn't look away from Pierrepoint, an account of the real-life British executioner Albert Pierrepoint, though afterwards I was rather drained. The great Timothy Spall (Secrets & Lies) plays the title figure.

The story takes some liberties with the facts (chronology, details, etc.) but is unflinching in its depiction of the task of the hangman. It's riveting, thought-provoking, and highly disturbing.

My next Netflix selection will have to be some comic relief!

78. In the theater...and at home.
Last movie I saw in the theater was Superbad.

Last movie I watched at home was Knocked Up.

Weird...just worked out that way.

82. I'm Not There
Interesting for Dylan fanatics (such as myself), but my wife, who isn't one, didn't like it at all. A pretty self-indulgent film, in my opinion. Ambitious, I'll give it that.

85. Wind That Shakes The Barley
Great movie but a very brutal and heart wrenching story. Keep the kids clear of this one from the first minute. The fact that I have kids might explain why I just viewed a movie that was released in 2006.

89. A cool, inept, low-budget 1958 horror flick, "The Return Of Dracula"

Francis Lederer as Dracula, posing as "Bellac Gordal," a passenger he kills on a train.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0052131/plotsummary

His strange behaviour, sleeping all day and going out at night are surprising to young miss Rachel Mayberry.
