My page is kept private for family only. I don't participate in anything there and rarely go there.

He can send out bulletins when he has a gig.
My Space allows him to reach a broader audience.
He's been trying to put a CD together of his original music
and also members in his band also write and play music.
They've all been working on a CD together.

He has loved music since he was a child (1st musical instrument was a Cello)and his Dad
is also a musician and I've dabbled a bit, here and there. But he has really stuck with it
and wrote a lot of songs while he was in Iraq and since being back. He loves it!

is all the applications you get sent by other people. Some are great, others are just a waste of time. There is also a trend for chain letters on the old super wall but there ya go.

I think there are even a few political applications too so you can show your support for your local democratic representiatives or any causes that tickle your fancy.

I mostly use Facebook and Livejournal to keep tabs on friends and whatnot. :)

Honestly, I don't get on there much any more as I'm on Facebook. I was using myspace before Murdoch, and it has gotten really spammed out and crappy, but it still has its uses - mainly for my music. I've actually had a decent number of people show up at shows and tell me they heard me on Myspace and that's why they came to the show.

Works way better than the flyers I used to hang/hand out.

Facebook's Beacon More Intrusive Than Previously Thought

A Computer Associates security researcher is sounding the alarm that Facebook's controversial Beacon online ad system goes much further than anyone has imagined in tracking people's Web activities outside the popular social networking site.

Beacon will report back to Facebook on members' activities on third-party sites that participate in Beacon even if the users are logged off from Facebook and have declined having their activities broadcast to their Facebook friends.

That's the finding published on Friday by Stefan Berteau, senior research engineer at CA's Threat Research Group in a note summarizing tests he conducted.

Of particular concern is that users aren't informed that data on their activities at these sites is flowing back to Facebook, nor given the option to block that information from being transmitted, Berteau said in an interview.

I even, at the behest of a few people I have been working with this year, started a Facebook account but I don't need it and so I disabled it.

I want to control when and where people learn about me... that's why I stick to bulletin board sites. That way, you will only get to see my boobs when I'm good and ready to show them. :P

but my main reason for never going with it was the exceptionally junky layout design. I like a nice, clean (even static!) website. Something that looks professional instead of like it's still stuck in grade-school.

Domains and hosting services don't cost much at all. A little bit of effort over a weekend and you have something you would want to show your employer :P

In that I had one, and I've tried a few times to delete it but it alwasy seems to stay there...I've removed all information from it, and now can't be bothered to log in and try another attempt at deletion.

I barely have time to keep up with my REAL life, much less keep updating one of those things...

...for monitoring the teenager, but she's 18 and in college now.

I also heard some employers will look at a potential employees MySpace or Facebook page as part of a background check. Since I am unemployed right now this is one thing I would rather avoid.
